1. Our real one is tomorrow...
meetup.com can't get our place listed to vote on and the venue that wins is too small for the group. Therefore we just passed out information.

2. Yup. I went to the one in Eau Claire
& wrote 2 letters to politicians.

Somewhat fewer people than usual, but lively & enough to recharge me for a while. County Dems tomorrow night.

3. I wanted to go to mine tonight
but two problems came up.

1) My pager is dead and needed immediate attention at a nearest T-mobile dealer. The new one is being overnighted and will come this Friday.

2) There was no interepreter avaliable for the Auraria Students for Dean, but I'll be attending the next Meetup on November, with an Dem interpreter who happens to be interested in Dean, but is not solidly with us yet.

4. Yes
In Shoreline WA. About 50 people there and it's a new breakoff- right up the street. I hadn't been before and I really enjoyed it. Lots of good ideas, info and a crash corse in the Electoral College- We have a Caucus on Feb 7th that will determine ALL of our delegates- very confusing.

But it was well organized- had it at the local library. I'm very encouraged. By the time the state campaign office is open, we'll be six months ahead of the curve.

5. I love going to Dean meetups
The people there are incredibly well informed and I've learned so much from talking with these guys. Fascinatingly, several are ex-military and I've had to completely rework my uninformed opinions on people in the military.

We've discussed economics, the world situation, the military, books, philosophy, healthcare in other countries. It's incredible. I'm always with the bunch that closes out the joint.

This is honestly the most intellectual and thought provoking bunch I have ever been with.

6. We had a great one in Normal, Illinois
We were competing with the Cubs in the world series and an outstanding debate on gay marriage at our local public library, so turnout was down a bit, but...

We had the local Democratic candidate for U.S. Representative as a guest, as well as a local Democratic precinct committeeperson join us for the first time.

We got listed by local Democrats on their website as an event taking place.

We wrote the letters, and are getting together later in October to flyer the two university campuses here and the community college.

Things are going well!!

Molly Ivins spoke here last week at both Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University (co-sponsored by the two university libraries) to overflow crowds in a Republican-leaning area...and we're taking her admonition to make politics fun to heart...more cookies and pizza!!!
