Kerry - A liar or just delusional?
From ABC News' Kerry campaign reporter Ed O'Keefe:

"In New Hampshire, one word haunts Senator John F. Kerry and it is D-E-A-N. At the midpoint of his 5-day, 15-city swing through the Granite State, the neighboring Senator from Massachusetts has visited the southern strongholds surrounding Manchester and its remote northern region; in both areas of the politically unpredictable state, Kerry received warm receptions of support followed by a cool reminder that the Dean train has already been and may come back through the station."

"On Saturday night in Londonderry Katie Wolff, a self-described independent voter against the war, came to hear John Kerry. After an hour and half mix of stump and quizzing, she left leaning but fully in the Kerry camp, explaining, 'I think that if more Democrats had stood up and said this (war in Iraq) was wrong, we might have stopped it. And I think if Kerry had (voted against it) he might have more support. A lot of Democrats stood by quietly and let it happen.'"

"On the stump, Kerry explained to a curious voter, 'I don't know anything about it. I don't know anything about any attack team. I can tell you this: I don't want my campaign joining in any kind of attacks on anybody … it's not unusual, it's not the first time in campaigns people have had friends or shared information but I don't know nothing about it and I guarantee you I'm not joining in any attack campaign on anyone.'"

1. Everybody attacks when they're behind.
When Dean was behind, he attacked others. Now that they're behind, they attack him.

Truthful attacks on fundamentals, background, and qualifications are fine. Untruthful attacks or attacks on trivia are not.

Judged this way, most of the candidates are a mixed bag. But they're all preferable to w.

3. Excellent whore media headline " liar or delusional" - try truth telling
If you have ever had a few hundred staff you know it is impossible to control everyones attitude and concept of what to do to help.

Campaigns not at each others throats - exchanging information - is not the same as Kerry campaign joining in any kind of attacks on Dean that the Gep campaign has chosen to run with.

But it is an ABCNote type eye catcher phrase!

:-)

6. "…Gephardt and Kerry campaigns are more than friendly…"

"Aides to both men say there is no overt conspiracy, but they acknowledge that at least at a staff level, the Gephardt and Kerry campaigns are more than friendly: they are sharing information about Dr. Dean that helps fuel each another's attacks.

On Sept. 30, for instance, both campaigns fired off press releases within 18 minutes of each other touting a column in The Boston Globe critical of Dr. Dean.

Shortly before, according to Steve Elmendorf, Mr. Gephardt's chief of staff, he and Jim Jordan, Mr. Kerry's campaign manager, told each other of the column by e-mail. "Either I sent it to Jim, or Jim sent it to me, I can't remember," Mr. Elmendorf said."

Dean Campaign Responds to Washington Tag Team
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=108&topic_id=58258

WOODRUFF: Governor Dean, before you sit down, I've just been handed a document. I think it came out of the press room that Senator Kerry's staff has been distributing some comments about what was said. Among other things they are saying that you, Governor Dean, tried to kick Vermont seniors off their prescription drug plan. That's relevant to what you were just saying here, so do you want to respond to that?

DEAN: Does that go along with the fact that I'm just like Newt Gingrich, too, and I tried to undo Medicare.

That's silly, of course. What I did try to do was get a cigarette tax past the Republican House. They wouldn't pass them. I told them if they didn't pass a cigarette tax to pay for our health care program, then they wouldn't be able to fund seniors' prescriptions.

They passed the cigarette tax, as I knew they would.

WOODRUFF: Senator Kerry, what about that?

KERRY: Well, it's not silly. It's what he did. I mean, it's sad. But he in fact, in order to balance his budget, terminated -- called for the full termination of what was called the V-Script program, and also turned to seniors and made prescription drugs more expensive for them in order to balance the budget.

Now, that's a fact. I didn't raise this, and I didn't know they were saying that, and it's sort of separate from where we were.

What I want to come back to, there are two ways for you to have lower prescription drug costs. One is you could hire Rush Limbaugh's housekeeper…

(LAUGHTER)

(APPLAUSE)

… or you can elect me president of the United States.

(LAUGHTER)

I want you to do the latter, and here's why: The prescription drug companies have not been held accountable. And what they're doing is they're playing games with the patents. They'll take a little jar, they'll change the color, there will be the same thing in it, they extend the patent laws.

So they don't put generics into the marketplace.

The pharmacy benefit managers are charging additional money for rebates, kickbacks, all kinds of schemes, almost 16 billions of extra costs.

What we need is a president who is determined to have a Medicare prescription drug benefit; make bulk purchasing available to the states, so Governor Napolitano and others can purchase in bulk but lower costs out to their citizens; and hold the companies accountable on the patent laws so we can put generics in the marketplace.

WOODRUFF: All right. Senator…

KERRY: If we do that, we can lower the costs for all Americans.

19. This thread is about Kerry lying about his attacks.

Not on whether he attacked or not.

22. He said he didn't know, which is more likely
because if two of the campaign workers were exchanging information, then it would be unlikely that Kerry was informed about something so mundane.

Trippi actually suggested to Gephardt's campaign manager that they JOIN him and Dean in attacking Clark. BIG difference.

then why should he be trusted with the presidency.

15. Gee..it's an attack?
It's Kerry's quote.

Kerry either is lying, or he's lost control of his campaign staff.

Or...he's lost contact with reality. Has John Kerry NOT attacked Dean? Was that another John Kerry?

Will the real John Kerry please stand up?

9. what is the problem exactly?
just because the media took kerry & gep camps exchanging information and portrayed it as some middleschool gang allegiance doesn't mean that is what's happening. the two of them haven't held hands at a joint appearance to yell about dean. i know that someone noted an instance where they released statements on the same subject in a short amount of time, but that is in no way different than what they were doing before the press labeled them a "Tag Team". dean is in the lead now, and is being criticized much as kerry was when he was in the lead. whatEVAR.

If Dean is in such a class of his own, why does he keep talking about Washington insiders? Or calling Clark a Republican? Shouldn't he be talking about Bush?

Oh, that's right. The insiders started it last year with that whole "Bushlite" thing...

That is just the latest (and most pathetic) of the attacks on Dean here.

The Kerry supporters seem to be the most egregious attackers at DU.

Of course they are desperate, like their candidate.

26. I assure you that the few recent threads attacking Kerry were in response
to the many many threads (and posts on Dean threads) smearing Dean. There is a small group of Kerry supporters on DU that will absolutely not allow a positive Dean thread pass by without spaming it and who start tons of anti-Dean threads.

"Kerry voted to reduce Medicare spending."
"Kerry Carries Water for Top Donor"
