That appears to be the Agenda of the the 12 unions comprising the Alliance for Economic Justice - -which includes the Teamsters, United Steel Workers, United Food and Commercial Workers Union and Laborers' International Union - - at least per the ABCNOTE -

So which of the 9 are not in favor of the above - just curious -because the ABCNote refers to the group as a pro-Gep group

Per the ABCnote they plan to support Gep - and after the primaries, regardless of who gets the Dem nod, they will stay together as an "Alliance" for the purpose of pushing the above 3 items.

Seems like a great idea to me - but I am curious as to why those goals are only (or best ? ) associated with Gep at this point (and I do like Gep - again - just curious).

Don't take this as a slam, it's honestly not meant as one, but didn't he vote in favor of NAFTA in 1993? I don't remember exactly, but I thought he finally caved to the pressure from up above.

He's been solidly against all these trade agreements. The only thing he didn't vote against was withdrawing from the WTO. Here's an overview:

That's why Kucinich is against BOTH NAFTA and the WTO.

Kucinich is a card-carrying union man himself. He has a workable plan for Universal Single-Payer healthcare, has vowed to repeal NAFTA, and supports a living wage. But, since he's obviously not a "serious candidate", his platform must not mean anything. :eyes:

A lot of Geph's union support is coming from the union bosses-- the ones who make the endorsements. I'm not thoroughly convinced the rank-and-file is as behind him as the heads are. The "union vote" is not nearly as monolithic as it once was, where the members would vote for whomever the leadership selected.

I agree. I was thinking about that after reading your post. What about all the striking workers Kucinich has stood with and spoken to directly? Why would they back a guy who talks the talk but won't stand shoulder to shoulder with them?

The next closest is Kerry at 18. But, I'd say Kucinich scores highest for his decade of service in the house. But, he stood with the workers while he was in Cleveland, too.

It's time the news stopped going out of it's way to give us the worst candidates. This is NOT to say that Gephardt is the worst - far from it. However, Dennis is the best one on labor issues.

Stood with the locked-out dock workers, when everyone else was just talking about those mean ole workers (who just want to endanger their lives without unions speaking up for them, yeah, right.)

Walked with SEIU service workers, the low paid maids and janitors who want to form a union...

Most recently walked and spoke to locked out grocery workers...and he does all this because he cares...

Many of his actions on behalf of labor are never reported because the media doesn't think labor is worth the trouble to cover it.
