Myrick, Edwards and Graham united, sort of All 3 favored loans over grants for Iraq; not all voted that way Three members of Congress from the Carolinas went high profile last week during historic votes on whether to grant President Bush's $87 billion request for Iraq -- and whether to convert some of that amount into a loan.

First, to review: Both chambers approved the $87 billion, two-thirds of which will be spent on military operations. The Senate vote was 87-12; the House vote, 303-125.

But the Senate also voted 51-47 to make half of the $20 billion earmarked for reconstruction of Iraq into a loan. The House rejected a similar amendment, with 200 members voting yes and 226 voting no.

Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., who's running for president, made headlines by voting against the whole package, saying a yes vote would have been tantamount to giving Bush a "blank check" to spend on a postwar plan that's failed.

.....and that is why Graham and Edwards get my respect unlike other Demos such as Lieberman and Dixieboy Miller(Georgia)!
