Congressman Tim Ryan Endorses Governor Howard Dean for President
NILES, OHIO--Congressman Tim Ryan (OH-17) today endorsed Governor Howard Dean, M.D. In making the announcement today, Ryan cited Governor Dean's grassroots-based campaign and his efforts to end the hold of special interests on the governing process.

"Governor Dean brings political power back to the people," Congressman Ryan said. "When he sits in the White House his priority will be the people who gave 74 dollars and volunteered their time to his campaign, not the special interest groups who finance their candidate of choice. His message is honest, and I find that refreshing in the political arena."

"I am excited that Tim Ryan has decided to join our campaign and take our country back," Governor Dean said. "In his first year in Congress, Tim has already proved himself an able leader and a strong voice for the people of Ohio. I look forward to working with him over the coming months to ensure that we can provide high quality jobs and health care for all Americans."

Ryan is in his first term in Congress, and is the youngest member of the Democratic caucus.

2. Ryan is a good man
...and I say this as a Democrat. Even if I did not support Dean, I would still say this.

The few US House members from Ohio are ALL good Democrats. I will be honored to join them next January on the floor of the House.

3. What a foolish little cockroach.
Isn't this like the fly endorsing a swatter, the mole endorsing a .22 rifle, the ant endorsing a bait trap? Or will Ryan, in exchange for this endorsement, be spared by the munificence of The Howard?

4. Yes, too bad...
....too bad he's not a Republican House member. Then the General could raise money for him.

5. You need to pay better attention, son.
Cockroach is reserved for those longtime Washington political fart sniffers. We also use Cockroachette for other insiders that sell out ordinary folks to gain entry into the clubhouse.

10. Sauce for the goose:
I'm trying to do the guy a favor. He's running for office; little barbs like mine are minor compared to what he can expect down the road. We here at D.U. must toughen him up now, so that he will be prepared for what the Repubs throw at him later, bla blah blah. At least, that's the usual rationalization that people here use for candidate slamming. Much better, in my view, and certainly more honest, to drop the pretense.

12. I didn't see what you wrote...
....but please don't try to pass off what was most likely a personal attack as "toughening me up".

One thing I am VERY ready for is facing off against the Republicans. I've been there and done it on several occasions over the past two years (at least).

I've been through enough right-wing attack machines, such as the names I've been called in the newspapers for organizing protests, being detained by the Secret Service for facing the wrong way, protesting Bush among a pack of his supporters, protesting Cheney among pack of his supporters, etc etc etc.

So please, if anybody should drop a pretense, it's you for trying to pretend that you were "toughening me up" when you really were just trying to attack.

And fuck the naysayers. They'll only be in control of OUR party a little while longer anyway.

17. Thank you
I appreciate that.

But certainly I will not let anybody derail me from my mission....to take back this country from the right wingers and the DINOs that permeate the political field as we currently know it.

11. So when's the NRA going to call in their favor?
Ryan was heavily financed in his campaign for the seat by the NRA.

I'm always waiting for him to switch sides at a key moment.

15. Isn't he Traficant's protege?
He was a former aide to Traficant so I'm a little concerned about anyone who was ever aligned with that lunatic.

18. He was....
...but having seen this guy in action, I'm confident that he is not a Traficant soldier. Just someone who used his experiences in that office to rise above it.
