Ohio governor Bob Taft must be scared - he announced
that electronic voting machines will be in place in time for the 2004 Presidential election.

Even though, legally, they don't have to be in place until January 2005.

No link, I heard this on the news break on the radio this AM.

1. Isn't Ohio home to Diebold Election Systems?
So no Supreme Court needed next year huh?

2. Yes, it is...
...and it's in MY district.

Two of my volunteers WORK for Diebold. One of them in the programming field.

5. Perhaps encourage voting by absentee ballot?
That leaves a paper trail...

4. Diebold's CEO "committed to helping Ohio deliver electorial votes" to Bush
Walden O'Dell, the CEO of Diebold, is a major fund-raiser for the Bush re-election campaign who recently wrote to contributors that he was "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes for the president next year."

3. "He should be scared, very scared."
His precious issue 1 failed yesterday here. I think it was just another corporate gimme bill. He probably thinks that the electronic voting machines that are made here may have given him an illegitimate edge. I personally think the vote against issue one was really a vote against his leadership.
