VT falling back to its "Safe DEM" status....

EDIT: Whoops, didn't mean to post the picture. However, I'll leave it in because people have commented on it.

Keep in mind that these are based on poll numbers, not necessarily D.C.'s predictions....some of these polls are months old.

3. No telling about Ohio
Ohio voted for President Clinton twice, but went for Boosh in 2000. I'm not sure how things are going to play out next year, but most of our papers here lean heavily repug. Fighting against a propaganda machine like that, it takes getting folks motivated to get out to the polls. That means doing some footwork, and letting people know our candidate's message.

12. Ohio
leans Republican Both Senators are Republican. 2000 election --the day Gore pulled out deciding to spend money else where-- a local poll that evening showed him tied with Bush. If there had been the money and people sent in I think Gkore would have wone Ohio.

Since this is a state with natural Republicansleanings over the last years, it will take work and funds.

2. At least Arizona is in our territory
Edited on Sat Nov-08-03 11:42 AM by La_Serpiente
I do not think California would go to Bush.

And there is no way Massachusettes is going to for Bush.

8. That's based on a poll from June
These are POLL-ORIENTED predictions. They are not my predictions and aren't even from my site. I have Illinois as Safe Dem.

10. Let's see: Dean has a 29-point lead over Kerry in VT, Dean's home...
... and what is Kerry lead over Dean in MA, his home state?

19. Let's put it this way...
Dean drew more people at his event than Kerry did at his own announcement.

15. Depending on turnout
it will be closer than most people are assuming. My brother lives in NC right now, and he told me that people were extremely pissed that Shrub had the nerve to come to NC and speak about economic progress. I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize it was this bad- my brother said they've lost 20-25% of their textile jobs in the last few years. If turnout is high, NC could be a shocker like it was in 1998.

And my brother is one of the few in my family who isn't very political, is pretty moderate, and probably has even voted repub in the past b/c of guns, so this isn't just him talking our of hatred of Shrub. Although he won't admit that around me!

13. I'm from NJ
I don't think my state is "too close to call". I'd put it in the "leaning dem" category. We just won big this election!

16. I'm curious how the other candidates poll against Bush in their home state
And how they poll against their Democratic opponents. When a state will choose their own past governor over an incumbent president in a poll like this it says that the residents of that candidates state believe their governor did a better job than the president is doing. Vermont sends some of the best politicians the country has to Washington. It's clear my state has good taste. We think Dean is much better than Bush, and he is. Anyone know how the other candidates do in their own states?

17. Rhode Island????!!!!!!
How can THAT state be too close to call? I figured that would've been in the Dem column even when Bush was at 90%.

18. Some of your poll #s can't be right.
Mass in the Republican column and Rhode Island too close to call? There is something seriously wrong. However, I do remember similar numbers before Gore gave his convention speech where he trailed in NY and other states so it is possible.
