Dean to unveil job-creation plan in D.M.
Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean today will call for raising the minimum wage and expanding unemployment insurance as part of a job-creation plan he will unveil in Des Moines.

Dean, a former Vermont governor, has said the economy will be the key issue that decides the 2004 presidential election. He will outline his economic plan during a speech today with workers of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33 union.

"The central economic goal of a president must be to speak to the core concerns of America's workers and their families: adequate health care, an excellent education, the assurance that every American who wants one has a decent job at a living wage," he said.

Dean's plan includes repealing President Bush's tax cuts. He also would increase financial assistance to states, expand unemployment insurance to cover more low-wage and part-time workers, expand high-speed Internet service, invest in schools, and reduce the cost of health insurance to employers.

1. I'm starting to love this man...
sounds like the anti-Bush to me, and he's not afraid to repeal tax cuts for the rich. I do not agree with everything he's done, but I'm throwing my support behind this candidate, because he has the will, the guts, and the energy to seriously take on Bush.

2. This is what I like to see from the candidates.....
Less fighting and carping and attacking and more giving me an answer when people ask me "Well if the democrats have a better suggestion let's hear it?!?!"

We have it healthcare, we'll have it on job creation and we'll need to get it on national security. And I have no doubt that by the time our candidate is chosen, if the party is not too bloodied by that time because of internal squabbling, we will have all of this at our fingertips.

I'm still not a Dean fan but I cannot deny that he has his act together in a lot of ways.
