Clark is the object of Right Wing attacks...
It's funny, Clark hasn't won the nomination yet
and they are on an all out assault against him:

Why Wesley Clark Is Going on the Public Dole

Wesley Clark says he won't be a hypocrite like Howard Dean and sabotage the campaign finance "reform" that Democrats screamed for but now can't stand. The reason is that he's not popular enough to rake in that kind of money.

Instead, he'll let you pay for much of his campaign. Clark's decision means he'll get up to $19 million confiscated from American taxpayers and get to spend up to $45 million....
---

It's funny what length they will go to lie about him when
this is what he and his campaign actually said:

"We are staying within the system, but we will not criticize our fellow Democrats for opting out. Let us be clear: It is George W. Bush who is running around the country raising hundreds of millions of dollars for a nonexistent primary, when he should be running the war in Iraq. It is George W. Bush who wrecked the public financing system, not the Democrats."

Bush. They know it. So better we. Nothing else stands to reason.

1. Andrew Sullivan
and the New Republic are taking huge swings at Clark. I mean, it is almsost as if they are obsessed with him. It's ridiculous. Andrew Sullivan, Jonathan Chait, they are going ballistic. Atrios and Mark A. R. Kleiman take on Andrew Sullivan and Instapundit on their blogs.

Here is Mr. Kleiman's perspective on Andrew Sullivan.

4. Thanks for the link...
It's atrocious, because win or not, Clark
lends a lot of "military cred" to the dems just
by association.

By the other candidates allowing the RW media to smear
him, they are all shooting us in the foot in the long run.

3. Yes - since day one
I really worry about this because, at this time, the most of the democratic base knows the tricks the RW is pulling on Clark, but as the season rolls on - some of their trash may have an effect on how the wider population thinks about Clark.

If we had a fair media they would be doing stories on how the RW is trying to influence the selection of the Democratic candidate. Guess I'll e-mail some media to stress that point - for what it's worth.

6. "let you pay"
Uh oh, I think we all better look out. This is what they're going to throw to kill public campaign financing. Why should 'you' pay for the Democrats running for President when 'you' don't have to pay for Republicans? I knew they'd figure out a way to hit this opting out thing, but I didn't expect it so quick and I didn't expect this angle at all. Damn.

And it sucks for Clark too. He does the honorable thing and gets slaughtered for it. The whole thing is a shame.
