With Blanco winning, who thinks John Breaux will be running again?
The speculation was that if Blanco lost, Breaux would retire..does this election change things? Should he run for a fourth six-year term in the Senate, and why?

1. The word was if Blanco Won, Breaux would retire
The word "on the street" is that Breaux will retire and Kathleen will appoint Rep. Chris John to serve out the remainder of Breaux's term.

2. He said he will serve out his term
I think that his resignation was just a rumor. He has denied that he will do that and it wouldn't make any sense that he would.

He seems likely to retire. He may also think that the state will be more likely to elect Chris John to succeed him since the state has been doing pretty well for Democrats over the past couple years. Hopefully, he stays though. I really don't want Vitter in the US Senate. It is just too risky.

3. He'll serve out the rest of his term
But Breaux will probably retire. Mary Landrieu, Mitch Landrieu, Robert Wooley, Charlie Foti, and Kathleen Blanco have now all proven that Democrats can win competitive races in Louisiana. John will be the nominee and the eventual winner.

6. I think he's tired
Breaux seems to be a person who wanted to serve Louisiana. But with the GOP in control, and probably not changing for some time, I think he's ready to do something else in life.
