Ad Shows Bush As Leader in Terror Fight
WASHINGTON Nov. 21 — Concerned about President Bush's slipping popularity and criticism from rivals who want his job, the GOP is questioning Democrats' commitment to fighting terrorism in its first TV ad of the 2004 race.
The commercial shows Bush during the last State of the Union address warning of continued threats. "Our war against terror is a contest of will in which perseverance is power," Bush said after the screen flashes the words, "Some are now attacking the president for attacking the terrorists."

The ad, airing in two early voting states, portrays the president as fighting terrorism while Democrats retreat from the fight.

Party chairman Ed Gillespie said he isn't questioning the Democrats' patriotism.

"It's their policies. They are opposed to a policy of preemptive self defense, and they are attacking the president for pursuing that policy," he said in a telephone interview. "It takes us back to a policy of responding to terrorism in its aftermath, and that's the wrong policy to pursue in the world after Sept. 11."

Democratic presidential hopefuls called the ad a sign of desperation.

2. If we can take this issue away from him, we win.

So far, all signs look good.

"You may fool all the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all the time."

A lot of people aren't fooled by Bush anymore.

"If George Bush wants to make this election about national security, I have three words for him he'll understand: Bring. It. On," said Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran.

3. He Was A Leader In The Terror Fight
He led the nation from his hideout at Offut AFB on 9/11.

The Democratic candidate should run a few ads during the election campaign to remind the voters of this fact.

4. That's the SOTU that led to treason, right?
The one where he lied about Iraq buying uranium from Africa and when he was called on it by Wilson, the WH damaged nat'l security by revealing the ID of one of our spies to retaliate?

Don't you hope one of the candidates will point that out? -Maybe at the same time when they remind us that there was no threat in Iraq.

5. "It takes us back to a policy of responding to terrorism in its aftermath"
Can someone tell this lunkhead that you can "pre-empt" terror without lying your country into a full scale war and occupation?

Please?...

6. Hey Mr. Ed
If the president has a policy of pre-emptive strikes against terrorism, why did he attack Iraq instead of focusing on terrorists?

Mr. Ed, you are a talking horse's ass.

8. I'd like to see Dean put up ads to counter these.
It would be a great opportunity to point out the difference between the war on terrorism and the unnecessary war in Iraq. Use the ad to push the Bush is a liar thought.

Put the bat up Doc, I'll chip in again if you want to take on these bastards.

9. Kinda like this?
Kerry is the first of the nine Democratic presidential candidates to try to turn the tables on Bush, showing the aircraft landing amid growing doubts about the Iraq war, the failed search for weapons of mass destruction and an increasing number of U.S. dead.

In the ad, Bush is shown congratulating troops on the carrier as an announcer describes Kerry as ``a leader on national security, a decorated combat veteran'' who can take on Bush on national security issues with more credibility than his rivals.

``He's fighting for you against the Bush tax cuts, giveaways for corporations and the wealthy. And his health care plan covers the uninsured and holds down costs,'' the ad says.

The announcer asks: ``Who can take on George Bush and change the direction of the nation?''
