He should have kept his mouth shut. STATES issue concealed carry permits NOT the Feds.

4. Dean the NRA candidate
I would feel a lot more confortable with Dean in the Republican Party, where he belongs.

5. Tough!
Dean is a Democrat, whether you like it, or not. Sadly for you, not everyone in the Democratic party is a screaming socialist.

8. Thank God, Dean still wants to be the candidate of the guy in a pickup
truck with a Confederate flag bumpersticker.

10. He sure does.
Their votes count 1 for 1, just like anyone else's, and it just kills you that that statement hasn't hurt his campaign a bit, doesn't it, bill? LOL!

12. That's why Dean polls worse than any major Dem against Bush
If gunners and ConFlag wavers are such a potent force? Why does Dean consistantly lag behind Kerry and Clark in heads up polling against Bush?

13. If it's such a huge liability...
... why does Dean kick Kerry's ASS in virtually every major poll among Democrats?

NRA 5th columnists.

11. Don't THEY have the same basic needs as the rest of us?
Don't THEY vote? Dean wants to show people that our common needs outweigh our differences. Instead of writing off certain groups, isn't it much more productive to try to show them why they should be voting with us?

It's your type of divisive message that's limiting this party.

6. Rather than just say "the NRA candidate" like it's a bad thing, explain
what you don't like. One of the main reasons that Dean has a good NRA rating is that he knows the difference between banning assauth weapons and banning semiautomatic woepons. He supports the assault gun legislation, but not legislation aimed at ALL semiautomatic weapons. Personally, I don't see a problem with this.

Since his actual POSITIONS don't give me cause for concern, I don't care WHO endorses him. In fact, I fail to see how this isn't a positive...it will surely attract a new (if small) group of voters.

2. You all want opinions from all candidates
on every issue.

And when a candidate gives one...you jump all over him.

Now you know why politicians talk a lot and say so little.

Because they know what will happens if they speak their mind...even tho you CLAIM that's what you want them to do.

Why do you expect... 100% perfect people, 100% of the time?

There are no saints.

19. Your Right
Clark raised the issue, and it will hurt him bad if he fails to re-think his position. One big reason I feel Dean is going to win is his gun position. He has got it right. Not jumping on Clark just saying what I think.

3. Good for Clark for not being gung-ho on having concealed weapons
everywhere. Pesonally, I'd like to ship all these freaks who want to carry concealed weapons around to a deserted Island where they can shoot themselves. I've worked on some cases in some reportedly very dangerous areas and I never once felt tempted to carry a weapon. In fact, guns scare me and so do people who like guns.

The Second Amendment, which was for the purpose of allowing for an armed insurection against a tyrannical government, became outdated the moment our government got nukes and chem weapons. Without nukes and chems of their own, there's no way Americans could retake the government with force. The idea is ludicrous and so is the Second Amendment.

9.  Are we doomed?
I think law abiding citizens who are carrying large amounts of cash or if they are in crummy neighborhoods with their families to protect should have a right to have concealed weapons.

If the Gov gets rough with us we are screwed because half of the people in the U.S. work for the Gov... We call it Democracy .. but it is Communism under a diferent name.

17. You can
I don't know about Wisconsin or where you live, but here in Missouri you could get a special use permit to carry a concealed weapon if you had a need. But that wasn't enough for the legislature they passed a concealed carry law AFTER the voters had already rejected a similar law and then they overrode the Governor's veto.

It was not a popular move. In addition to just being right and responsible, this will score points for Clark here.

32. The people in the crummy neighborhoods aren't out to get you.
It's paranoia. I've worked in some crummy neighborhoods and I was tempted to move from my upper middle class neighborhood to one of those crummy areas because the people in the crummy neighborhoods are nicer than the people in the un-crummy neighborhoods.

30. because I hope that someday
our country becomes civilized to the point where people won't need to walk around carrying concealed weapons.

The old west is history - people walking around with guns is the sign of an adolescent society. We need to grow up.

20. Let me get this straight
Concealed carry laws are supported by Democrats? Liberals? Independents? Who? And who is against them generally? I always thought this was something Republicans wanted. I can't imagine many Dean supporters favor this, but I could be wrong. I don't know much about it. We're more for gun-control except for hunting around here.

In case you didn't know there are a number of Dems with CCWs.

Kerry and Dianne Feinstein come to mind.

Anyway I don't know what the party line is but here in NC a DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR signed our concealed carry law in 1995.

THANK YOU JIM HUNT!

24. I live in Wisconsin
And I say way to go to our Democrats. This is exactly the game the repugs want to play. Turn the gun owners against the Democrats even though a large majority of Wisconsinites are against the Conceal and carry law. And how fair is it that the gun nuts feel safe and I should feel less safe. If they want to carry a weapon then I say strap it on their hip and give me a chance to see the fools coming so I can go the other way.

27. Good for Clark
If guns make us safer why isn't the country with the most guns the one with the least crime?

Don't most American's say they wish their politicians would be honest and say what they feel. Clark is not afraid to say what he feels. As some like to say, The President we were promised as kids.
