Democrats can use assault weapons ban renewal for their advantage
On September 14, 2004 the " 1994 Assault Weapons Ban" sunsets.

In May of 2003 our current thief in chief said he supported the CURRENT "AWB". This put him at odds with the NRA.

If the Dems were smart they would hold up on voting for AWB renewal (The prez said he supported S 1034)- while hammering him all year long on not getting it passed and hammering the Repukes in congress on the issue too.

Then in late August-BEFORE THE SUNSET- or so the Dems should force a discharge petition to get S 1034 voted on.

This would force Bush to tick off:

1) his rabid NRA supporters who abandoned his dad in 1992 for signing the 1989 import gun ban. They like their guns.

OR

2) He tees off a lot of moderates and independents crucial to winning the WH. They don't like guns.

Either way Bush loses no matter how he acts.
