Kucinich on Steel Tariffs
Kucinich on Steel Tariffs

"It appears the President has buckled under to the World Trade Organization, rather than standing up for the interests of American workers and manufacturers choosing to create wealth in the United States....Clearly the tariffs are needed and are effective. But the President has abandoned the sovereignty required to maintain them. A basic pre-requisite for self-governance requires that a nation be free to enact policies that address its needs and provide benefits for its people. But as long as the World Trade Organization determines United States trade policy, we are not a sovereign nation. As exhibited by the President's decision on tariffs, our trade policy is now limited by unelected bureaucrats in Geneva, Switzerland." READ MORE

1. Well, if Bush won't,
and if no one else will, Dennis Kucinich will clearly stand up for the interests of american workers.

Nobody does it better.

3. He's already helped preserve steel jobs in Cleveland...
during his stint in Congress. And he'll do the same for the REST of American industry when he's president.

GO DENNIS!!!!

5. Kucinich knows this isn't just a battle over jobs ,

it's a battle to stop the plan to turn this country into a two-class society in which the few, and incredibly wealthy, plutocrats govern the many, who will be forced to work at low-paying jobs. We've already got huge numbers of unemployed and underemployed Americans, people who can't make ends meet, adults having to move back in to their parents' homes, people who can't afford medical insurance, and the GOP is doing all it can to make it easier for the plutocrats and harder for the people. For example, Bush will soon sign the Medicare bill, sold as an "improvement" but designed to destroy the Medicare program. It's like we're on a sinking ship and the Republicans are pumping in more water, while some of the Democrats are deliberately looking the other way. Dennis John Kucinich is the guy with the bucket, bailing as fast as he can.

6. Wrong...

America can no longer compete in these industries. Other countries can pay their workers far less. In terms of both economics and foriegn relations, a trade war is in no one's interest--including workers in Pittsburgh.

We need to focus on education--making a smooth transition from a manufacturing economy to a service/technology economy. Imagine if the investment channeled into steel and coal could go towards solar energy. We need to think bigger.

we need to force other countries to pay more...we need to force other countries to uphold the same laws we do

we can tell the world what we to do...the dumbass in the oval office right now does it all the time

the difference now would be we are in the right, and when you have correct ideology behind you, you can never be wrong
