So far, Dean's the darling of N.Y. Dems
Howard Dean has seized the early edge in the New York presidential primary by winning the backing of the hospital workers union and the Queens Democratic organization.
The endorsements of those two groups are major steps in a state where union and party support can make the difference in Democratic primaries.

"In New York, Democratic primary voters are on the left, and Dean is on the left," said Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf. "There's some flux, but who is going to turn out to vote? With the union with Dean, it should be significant help."

New York's primary next year lands on Super Tuesday - March 2 - and the compressed election calendar combined with an unusually large and unsettled field of candidates could give the state new clout in determining the nominee.

1. "Democratic primary voters are on the left, and Dean is on the left"
this from a Dem. strategist.

This mystifies me. Dean is to the right of every candidate except Lieberman and maybe Gephardt. Which is fine, but why are our own people mischaracterizing him?

2. NY has plenty of clout. Ask McCain
McCains hope was to win NY last time. It didn't happen and he quit that week.

3. March 2. The day we finally have the Dem. nominee, imho.
If not, the week after should end it. That's mini-Super Tuesday.

4. I have been asked by the County Chairman who was asked by Rep. Hinchey to
help run the Dean primary campaign in all of NY's 22nd Cong. District. Hinchey is turning over his entire machine to Dean and we are going all out to win the general election now as we organize for the primary.

March 2 I agree will probably be the beginning of the general campaign against Bush. Clark will likely be named Vice President choice soon after by the good doctor--who won't wait until the convention.

Dean won't have to spend any money in New York after March 2, but he will raise tens of million from the state in the Spring and Summer.

5. I hope you're right, I think you're right....
I am very excited about a Dean nomination and have been working hard for just such an outcome. Wes Clark as VP would be the final nail in bush* coffin. It really would be nice to have my country back, it's been a lomg time since I took an easy breath, almost 3 years to be exact.

7. Graham for VP
Graham is the best choice. Clark as Secretary of State or Defense, if not prez.

8. I totally agree, but Clark
on the ticket makes them unstoppable. Graham would make one of the finest VPs ever. I think he has incredible integrity and his views on the issues have been impeccable in my estimation. The sheeple love Clark, and why not, he's a highly decorated military officer with outstanding credentials to offer this country, and god knows we are sorely in need of a rational mind running the Pentagon and the DOD, but alas the sheeple want to see Clark standing on a podium, give 'em what they want. Clark could set a new precedent as VP, active in all areas of defense, diplomacy and executive duties. A VP/SOS/DOD all rolled into one, if you will. It works for me.

takes most, if not all, of the primaries. Dean almost made the deal with him in August. Then he will announce that Clark will be in charge of catching OSAMA BIN LADEN.

Remember him?

Then Dean/Clark takes NC, AR, TN and FL to go with the rest of the Electoral victory.

15. It may be earlier than that.
If Dean sweeps all of the early primaries, it may be over by February 7.

11. I Just Talked to My Mom
She's a Republican (hush y'all!), so can't vote in the Dem primary.

But it so happens, she hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate since Ford, basically.
