Switching (I Think), to Dean because...
When I read the so called liberal pundits on the web, they are increasingly sounding like the do nothing, limp wristed, (I'm gay, so don't come for me!), "Rupublicrats" in Washington, and, while subtly and coyley deriding Daschle, actually sound just like him and them! I'm sick of it!

Eric Alterman:

Kerry:
“And Eric, if you truly believe that if I had been president, we would be at war in Iraq right now, then you shouldn’t vote for me.”

It worked for me. But of course, I’ve now spent four hours with the guy and liked him to begin with. He still has the problem—perhaps unsolvable—of how to break through to Dean voters in the short amount of time he has left when the media has their storyline already and no candidate gets to say anything that lasts more than a few seconds.

Total "in crowd" garbage. No wonder the south and midwest feel alienated. Heres another:

Josh Marshall:

"I find myself torn because I see great promise in the resurgence of energy among grassroots Democrats -- something that has made Dean's campaign possible, but which he himself has also significantly helped to catalyze. The novel methods of fundraising and networking are extremely important -- something that Dems allowed to atrophy literally decades ago. And I definitely think that the going models that Democrats have in DC just aren't working, demonstrably aren't working.

Yet my wariness remains -- on various counts."

Of course it remains. Because yourself, like MYSELF, had lost any semblance of balls or guts, Josh honey.

I was a Clark supporter I think because of this, well, thing.
(Add to that the fact that there were NO good mayoral canndidate here in NY in the last mayoral election, so I voted for the first time for a Repub, Bloomberg, which I am still barfing over right now.)

I'm switching. To Dean. And, funnily enough NOT because of the current Admin. but because of the toothless commitment to America by my own party. As a black person, who owes a LOT to Democrats and Liberals, I am ashamed. That's it.

1. Very thoughtful
Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 10:42 PM by party_line
Remember the concept of the highly partisan on the left and right maintaining a tension so that the middle ended up being something you could at least *take*? We lost our partisan left and all the tension!

Dean recalls that, imo, not because he's so left- he isn't- but he's solid and seems to have "partisan" down pretty well. He's a darn good candidate.

2. Good luck with your choice ...
... I'm still in undecided mode. I have cycled through all the candidates at one time of the other. I still haven't decided who I am going to vote for in the primary. All I care about though is beating the Shrub. As annoyed as I feel sometimes with various campaigns or their supporters, the one thing I know I cannot take is another four years of the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/PNAC crowd ruining our country and getting cheered on by Fox, MSNBC, CNN and pig-boy.

I just want to WIN dammit.

6. it is the right choice
the leaders of my party have spent too much time worrying about commericals and not enough time on doing what is right. People want a choice and until Dean, there really has not been a clear one. Join us. It is the right thing to do and it feels oh so good.

go Dean

3. The wariness
It's from threads like "Revolution" where people talk about being part of a family. A family where they obediently give money because Howard says so, even without even knowing anything about the candidate they're giving it to, Boswell. A family where if you criticize Howard too sharply you get called a fucking douchebag. Grassroots is a great thing. I'm not sure we've got grassroots with Howard Dean and I am very wary and so are alot of other people around here.

7. you are wrong
Why is it so hard to see what is happening? When people are excited and ready to give their soul and money for a cause they are crazy? I disagree with that. I think people who refuse to accept reality are considered crazy.

go Dean.

12. Maybe neither of you are "brainwashed"
Maybe you both know your candidates and have your own reasons for liking them.

I just found it interesting that you vehemently deny being brainwashed about your candidate but then accuse the other person of being brainwashed because s/he doesn't support your candidate.

33. Hey Karaoke
May I suggest the "ignore" feature? I've had most of these guys on ignore for months and just from the responses people give them, I already know what they're saying -- the same thing they were saying 6 months ago. Really, ignore is your friend. They have nothing new to add, they've made up their minds about Dean and all of his supporters (over a half million of us are apparently brainwashed and have never ever been involved in politics before :eyes:). Really dude (dudette?) it's not worth your time and your blood pressure will thank you.

34. you should actually pay attention to your own posts...
So to refresh your memory...here is what you posted...

So how can you say you didn't attack anyone else, when your post clearly suggests that people who support the Dean candidacy are either ignorant or subservient?

Your statement: I didn't attack anybody in my thread. I merely pointed out a couple of peculiarities that give me cause for concern. About Howard.

So we are the one's who don't understand and are in denial...perhaps a better parsing of your own words would be warrented before you go charging off accusing others....and this may be part of the reason that you have a reputation and such volitile responses from Dean supporters....

And as far as: The recent giving of money to Boswell just because Howard said so was very strange considering Boswell's voting record doesn't match anything Howard says he stands for.

Are you kiding me?! If you want to take control of the House you are going to have to win marginal or conservative seats...and that means you will get members who are responsive to those districts....what is important is that we have enough members in the House who have the D after their names so they will cast the votes for the first female Speaker of the House and the all Dem committe chairs....

I don't think people are questioning your brain...what we question is whether or not you actually have the neccessary information about the whole picture....and judging from your posts....I think I can make up my mind....

To the other Dean supporters....we understand that what we are signing up to is the rebuilding of the party that was allowed to go stagnant by 30 years of neglect! Other people seem to be more interested in finding a candidate who will save them from the bad people...but we are organizing ourselves to take our country back with our own two hands....don't let the bastards get you down....we have only to look at what is happening in the primaries from all our efforts!!!

31. "nobody knew anything about him"? How do you know?
Just a wild ass guess?

I checked him out before I sent him money. He didn't vote the way I would've liked on several issues, but he's not Zell Miller or anything, and he's the only Dem they've got there. This is about keeping the seat in our party.

Plus it might just help Dean win Iowa.

Post after post after post about sending money. Nothing about who the guy was or why they liked him. Howard said send, Deanie's sent. Not all of course, nobody would admit it anyway, but plenty.

The Clarkie road is a hard one to travel, Which will make victory that much sweeter! Victory doesn't come as easy as you may suspect. It's easier to come swiftly out of the gate, then to be Seabiscuit. But I understand.

38. I know...
man, it's real disappointing to see so many people here so bitter and meanspirited over the way the race is going so far.

Early on I tried to tell everyone that one day we're all going to rally behind one of these candidates, so we shouldn't be so vituperative (did I even spell that correctly?) toward each other. There has been so much venom spit by all sides here that now many are either wary of approaching "the opponent" or they are not even trying.

GO DEMS! Doing what we do best, shooting each other in the back and eating our own. Yee Haw. :evilfrown:
