What liberal media?

As I was watching Bill Maher, when he had Tony Snow (I think) who was presented as a host of a Fox News show, I could not help wondering: where is the liberal counterpart for him? How come we don't have a liberal host of a TV news show? Where are the liberal O'Reilly and Hannity? Al Franken in on the radio but where is the TV host?

And, of course, now we have the Sinclair people.

Some may say that Dan Rather is liberal but he certainly does not have a program like the ones on Fox.

It would be nice if we could start talking about this, spreading the word. O'Reilly recently has been on both 60 Minutes - interviewed by Mike Wallace - and on the Daily Show. I wished that either of them raised this point.

I don't care WHAT you saw in Franken's book.

see, if it is a "liberal" media then it implies all the hosts are liberal. Since they are liberals and they are in control then it is "only fair that there is an occasional right-wing host."

On several local forums several posters have argued that Judy Woodruff, Al Hunt and others are liberals. Those talking heads aren't liberal they just want to be on the "A" invite list to Washington insider parties. They've sold out. First they bent over backwards to make sure there wasn't a liberal bias and then they just got addicted to the Kool-aid.

I agree though. We do need real liberals doing a TV news show. The closest we have is Sundance Channel's airing of Franken's show.

They clutch the liberal label close to them so they can keep getting away with right wing bias. In reality, they are natural representative of the corporate POV.

Problem is, you can't just appoint real liberals to these networks because they would have to attack the parent company's business model (private monopoly).

You can't solve the bias problem by affixing sympathetic personalities to the anchor desk. The market itself must be restructured so that highly-concentrated wealth doesn't have the last say in programming. I think that will mean media ownership limits along with a competitive (large and independant) public service broadcaster.

Yes, that's the problem.
