my 'problem' with PJennings

During the Vietnam War (or maybe after), I was watching TV. I saw an ad for Jennings.

It went something like 'Murrow (and others) had WWII to make their mark. Jennings has (had?) the VN War.'

That's what I remember hearing/seeing. My reaction was..'US fights a war in Vietnam so Jennings can become a TV reporter, then anchor?!?!?!?!

Is this a false memory, or does anyone else remember seeing such an ad??????

I don't remember that ad nor do I have a clear memory on his Vietnam-era reporting.

I'll give the benefit of my cloudy memory that he did do some good work then and helped expose the war for what it was.

My problem with Jennings, like Brokaw and Rather, is what has he done over the past 25 years besides deliver the news? We've had Reagan, Bush I, the travesty against Clinton, and now the crimes of Bush II. Jennings is nothing more than a talking head apologist who struck it very rich.
