3. Saw it
I thought things would finally break loose. Jesse Jackson is being Awesome in Ohio...So I put aside my TV boycott to watch Mike on Jay Leno. I had high hopes when leno made a Ukraine/ Jeb Bush joke!
I lay there with clenched teeth thinking there is NO way Mike is going to pull a Barack Obama. No way he is gonna say "They ran a Masterful campaign". Well he was wearing a suit looking like a very fat man in a too tight suit. Shaved, etc. His Irony was completely lost on the Audience, he basically said if you can't beat them you may as well look like them. He was trying to say to the audience hey I'm going to be fine with this guy in office, I will get a huge tax check, etc. Trying to make people get who the real winners are in this election. When Leno asked him "Really" how did Bush win this election? Mike deadpan, said
"He got more votes"
then he turned and took a sip of water. No one got it in the audience. Then he said something to the effect that he won and we shouldn't feel bad because it was so close, only a few percentage points, blah blah. Then in another attempt at irony, he said that the Republicans tell a better story then Democrats, and as a for instance he said that Bush stood on the rubble of 9/11 with a bullhorn and told people he was gonna keep them safe from anymore attacks. And he did. Well the audience actually aplauded, not for the irony of the "story" but for Bush, I think. When Mike continued by saying, it was quite a story because we really don't know if we will be attacked again, the people didn't get it. He said when you think about the Democrats you can't really remember a story of what they were offering.
Well Mike, I could— "honor, integrity, diplomacy, intelligence, compassion..."
Anyway I dropped him a line this morning with 2 questions
1) Was he being ironic?
2) Are we going to get this guy?
We'll see. He did reply once to me.
