Krauthammer claimed .. U.N. sanctions "didn't stop .. [.. Hussein] ...
... CIA disagrees

Arguing that the United States cannot prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons "unless you're prepared to go to war," syndicated Washington Post columnist and FOX News contributor Charles Krauthammer claimed that multilateral sanctions on Iraq "didn't stop him in anything." In fact, Iraq never restarted its nuclear program after the United Nations Security Council imposed sanctions following the 1991 Gulf War, according to the CIA's Iraqi Survey Group (ISG), which led the search for banned weapons in Iraq and documented Saddam's attempts to acquire them. <snip>

1. He can claim it; it's unprovable.
Because they also had inspection teams. Did the sanctions stop him, by themselves? Did the inspections, by themselves?

At least one report had a scientist saying the threat of inspections played a role.

2. Operation Southern Watch and Operation Northern Watch
Maintaining the No Fly Zone throughout the Clinton years with an allied force of British, French and American Air Forces ensuring Hussein stayed in his box. These operations were heavily funded by Saudi Arabia. Inspectors and sanctions; Why one could argue that Hussein had no WMD in April of 2003 because of them. Prove us wrong Chuckles. Krauthammer continues to be a right wing idiot. It doesn't have to be that way Charles. Stop believing stuff and start learning stuff. Or are you getting some of Gannon's action to believe what you are told to believe?

4. The prewar propaganda, after a decent interval to forget, repeated
as truth for posterity and to teach us the lesson of Iraq is that Bush saved us all from nuke anniliation and Iraqis for freedom.

5. Of course he's shilling for another war.
He's a PNAC'er. Syria and Iran are on their list. 1 down 2 to go.

6. They keep repeating this garbage
as if we DID find WMDs in Iraq. I don't know if sanctions stopped him or what stopped him but the fact is he was stopped.
