Do you have the fortitude to boycott Corporate Media?
I`m downright fed up. This is news? Some Barbie or Ken doll yakking at me from Karl Rove`s talking points memo? That`s right. These folks don`t do soldier casket photos. Just shots of Michael Jackson in his pajamas or some idiotic Barbara Bush sighting where she explains why real Americans should support Junior. Now the Morals Police have summoned all patriots to join Tom DeLay`s fight to save Jeb`s own Terry Shiavo. It`s amazing that viewers haven`t all gone off the deep end.

I started my corporate media boycott on November 3, 2004. Can`t say it wasn`t hard. It was because I`m a news junkie. But let me tell you, it was like having a festering sore removed. Ahhhhhh..the relief. Now I get my national/international news from Free Speech TV or Link TV. It`s great. I get to hear from real people about very important issues. No spin, no commercials, no "retired" military consultants, no Tim Russert, no Wolf Blitzer.

Here`s my question: What(if any)impact would we have by collectively boycotting corporate media and sending emails explaining our intentions and reasons?

Remember that old joke? Question: Why are you banging your head on the wall? Answer: Because it feels so good when I stop.

1. I tried LinkTV a bit, a tad dry and longwinded, but maybe I'll give it
another shot. I haven't heard of FreeSpeech TV before, can you elaborate on that for me?

4. Hi Nickster....
I get Free Speech TV via Dish Network, channel 9415. Weeknights they offer the INN World Report, then Democracy Now. International coverage is terrific and I enjoy the news broadcasts from the Middle East. Offers a much different perspective from the garbage we get on CNN and the like. Dish Network also offers Link TV (channel 9410) which I find fascinating. Since I must really watch my budget, I was pleased to find this affordable. Above and beyond the excellent news coverage, I really enjoy their programs on other cultures.

5. Cool thanks for the followup. It must be a Dish Network thing
I have directv so I only get LinkTV. Think I'll shoot a letter to directv and let them know that I'm interested in the channel. Might show up in my lineup eventually.

2. Have already done that- blocked CNN, etc, but left FSTV
etc. The only corporate media channel I still have unblocked is MSNBC because of Countdown, but I don't watch it at all except for that show.

When I did, I sent emails to CNN, etc and told them why I quit watching. And haven't looked back.

3. yes
The only thing that speaks to corporo-fascists is money.

I do not buy a print newspaper, and I don't pay for tv.

I do pay a little for a dialup isp, and a little for my own mb, and that's it.
