Watch CNN at your own risk
Carol Costello was hosting a British news presenter this morning that was talking about a poll (of 1000 non-labor party) voters conducted by the Guardian that ostensibly showed a majority of British citizens were pro-Bush.

Regarding the poll, Carol said <paraphrase> "and the labor party voters not in that poll tend to be conservative!"

Duh, Carol, you dimwit, how the hell could you be an anchor on CNN for this long, talking to someone in England every day, and not realize what the labor party's leanings on most issues are?

And another rant, who paid off the Guardian to take a poll that is statistically insignificant (1000 randomly selected people), and make sweeping statements that the poll "explodes conventional wisdom at Westminster". Bullshit.

1. NPR/M.E. reported this morning that Brits are in favor of Bush's visit
I wonder if NPR is relying upon this same bad data.

2. Well, I'M in favor of Bush visiting England
Every minute he's out of this county is a minute he can't screw us up and over.

Besides, he's sure to make a fool of himself over there. He can't even speak the language.

3. What I'm hearing
over and over again is the protests-how big they will be, how unhappy the Brits are with Shrub being there, etc, etc. Granted, the radio (on NPR) is in another room and I only get snatches of the morning news. But this is what I have heard, not the deal about Brits being in favor....btw, did you hear the sarcasm offered to Bush by a British paper? Elizabeth II is "Elizabeth the Second" not Elizabeth Eleven"..all this on NPR this morning...

"And please refer to Prince Charles as Your Majesty, not Chuck."

What I heard, regarding the Brits' approval of Bush's visit, was a soundbyte from the head of one of the protesting groups, saying in effect that they wanted him in England for the purpose of showing him what they think of him (and his policies). Maybe they realize that he didn't quite get the point in the States, since he has been gingerly escorted around any hint of protest here.

Last night on Fox there was a British poll mentioned, in which majorities opined that Bush was both "stupid" and "incoherent." I've been looking for a link but can't find it. Hmph.

- edited to tidy up my early-morning grammar blunders

5. Third time I've said this.
Everything about teh poll that I have heard tells me that the Brits are saying that they don't think Americans and America are the root of evil. It really dosen't say anything about our President. I still say they see him as an evil, gibbering, drooling, chimp.
