AAR in NYC
Thom Hartmann is gone, replaced by Ed Schultz. Schultz sounds annoyingly like Rush. So much so that I wondered WTF?, when I heard him on Koz this morning. I assume this is a network wide change. I'll withhold final judgment but I'm not thrilled with the change.

I'm going to miss Hartmann. He could be tiresome at times but I truly enjoyed that he had guests with opposing views. It was refreshing to hear intelligent dialogue.

Lionel is gone too, replaced by a health and awareness program. Aren't there enough of these shows? He didn't last too long. Didn't listen much, just the very beginning or end of the show.

Rev. Al Sharpton has a show later in the evening. I never listen that time period but it might be an interesting program.

1. No Hartmann is still on AAR
XM Radio has Ed Schultz on during Hartmann's slot but Hartman is on XM at 8PM for 2 hours.

Lionel is still on AAR. Don't like Lionel, but he's still on AAR's lineup.

I listen to AAR on XM radio and via the Internet.

4. I download Thom Harman every day, too, since XM Radio fucked us over and took him off.
So glad that merger between XM and Sirius went through! I'm absolutely sure they'll act in the public's best interest! :sarcasm:

PS: Fuck you, Ed Schultz and XM Radio.

3. I'm sick and fucking tired of Ed Schultz. And I absolutely hate Lionel. But still..
Why didn't they relplace Lionel with someone who doesn't suck, instead of with "health and fitness?"

5. Uh-oh! AAR's website is down for maintenance.
Edited on Mon Mar-31-08 01:15 PM by JDPriestly
I wonder if they are having financial problems again.

Ed Schultz is with Jones Radio. If he is on AAR, it is probably because the local station is buying his show. I like Ed Schultz, but he is not on out here in L.A. at any time that I listen to the radio.

I can't stand Lionel. I have a feeling that he is leaving.

Thom Hartmann is absolutely the greatest.

Is Randi back?

I'm wondering if AAR is trying to renegotiate contracts and not getting agreements. They seem to have people stepping in who are pretty independent of AAR financing for their shows.

6. I think Randi should be back today
Edited on Mon Mar-31-08 01:24 PM by SharonRB
We're still getting Thom on our local affiliate here in Detroit. We don't get Randi live -- we get Ed from 3-6 (I would much rather have Randi live) and then Randi from 6-9. I stream Randi on my computer at work. We don't get Rachel at all.

My ideal lineup would be:

Stephie - 9-12
Thom - 12-3
Randi - 3-6
Rachel 6-9

I could easily live without Ed -- I listen to him in the car on my way home, since I have no other choice.

On edit: Thank goodness we've never gotten Lionel.

12. They're relaunching their website
It's up now. Though still running slow, the new website looks good, much cleaner and more attractive.

7. My complaint has been registered
I emailed WWRL for what it's worth.

Truly bizarre that the flagship of the network drops a big chunk of the lineup.

Guess I'll have to download Thom for now...

9. AAR in NYC
I don't like Schultz's style, but one listen shows that his callers include much less genteel whites than Hartmann's or Rhodes's, folks who wear their fears on the sleeve. They need to be heard by anyone who wants McCain to lose.

10. WWRL is bringing back some of its huckster roots it sounds like
They used to be dominated by various "health" shows that were primarily there to sell various forms of snake oil.

Sounds like the station has removed some of Air America to go back to that.

11. Hartmann's a Clown
I hate it when liberal radio is taken off the air but that is not the case here. He is simply losing his timeslot to someone who is entertaining. Why do you think so many Air America stations elect to dump AA programming for Jones talents like Stephanie Miller an Ed. It's because AA programming is boring and Hartmann leads that pack.

13. Not a good switch
We have Schultz in Randi's slot. He's tolerable most of the time, but that's about it.

16. After a few days...
I'm warming up to him. Definitely more entertaining than Thom. Makes some good points. Still sounds like Rush, in voice and style, which I find very weird. I do miss Thom though.
