Chris Matthews is a spineless coward
I used to admire Chris Matthews. That was before he became a spineless Republican loser. The best example of this is his recent interview with Republican liar and idiot Ann Coulter. In this interview Matthews call Coulter a "Brilliant Writer", well let's see.
Ann Coulter claims that Democrats can't win wars, even though we won Kosovo, and the most brutal war in history, WWII. Coulter Cliams that the great JFK was a traitor, even though he was a WWII hero and brought us back from the brink of nucleur war. JFK was the superior to any republican before or since. Coulter claims that Harry Truman was a traitor who was soft on communisim, even though he sent the US millitary ro fight the communist insurgency in Korea. and finally, she claims that Joe McCarthy was a great guy, even though he was actually a scumbag lunatic who ruined hundreds of innocent lives, and his despised by all REAL americans.

Matthews could have challeged Coulter on all these issues, but instead choose to prove his cowardice by kissing her ass. Now granted Coulter does have a nice ass, but I am 24 and even I wouldn't have drooled all ovber myself the way that loser Matthews did. Matthews is a coward pure and simple.

2. That isn't how I saw it.
He complimented her repeatedly as he cleaned her clock- he battered her six ways from Sunday as she slithered out of answering questions that only became increasingly hostile and aggressive.

I thought he threw the flattery in so the news couldn't be 'Matthews Decimates Coulter' even though that IS what happened.

He YELLED at her, 'Who is a traitor? Name one.' And she, of COURSE, wimped out of maintaining that lie. He ended up saying this book should be called slander, also.

Welcome to DU :hi:

3. Democratic presidents don't win wars?
Let's see, for the past 100 years...
World War One - won, Woodrow Wilson - D, President
World War Two - won, FDR - D and Harry Truman - D, Presidents
Korea - still going on, Eisenhower - R, President
Vietnam - lost, Nixon - R, President
Gulf War 1 - won sort of, Bush - R, President
Afghanistan - still going on, Bush 2 - R, President
Gulf War 2 - still going on, Bush 2 - R, President

So, Democratic Presidents have 2 wars in the past century, both won.
Replutocans have 5 wars, with one win, one lost, and THREE incomplete.

Oh, and the 2 wars Dems fought were major 'must win' affairs.

5. Democrats Also Won...
World War I (President Woodrow Wilson, and boy did Republicans lose the peace on that one), War of 1812 (President James Madison, although the original White House burned), and the Mexican-American War (President James Polk). Yes, we can thank a Democrat for Texas, I suppose. :-)

Republicans get credit for the Spanish-American War (President William McKinley, in that fit of American imperialist conquest), Gulf War I (Bush I), and itty-bitty Panama (Bush I). Both parties get the blame for the Vietnam War, although Democrats perhaps more so. (Yes, Kennedy technically inherited Vietnam from Eisenhower, but Johnson escalated the conflict significantly. Nixon continued and even accelerated the killing, bombing neighboring countries.) Korea was a tie, so no points (or deductions) for Truman. Clinton really did inherit Somalia and then did a swell job in Kosovo, plus extra points for peace in Ireland. Reagan gets points (a few) for Grenada but then loses them for Iran-Contra and Beirut. No points awarded for the Revolutionary War (pre-dates today's political parties). The Civil War is tricky. I think the Republicans should get credit for that one, but the nasty thing about such wars is that nobody really wins. (It was America's bloodiest by far, and it was all self-inflicted.)

7. One could claim...
That the Democrats 'started' the civil war and thier side lost.
Parties change over time.
'Any organization that lasts long enough will eventually oppose the principles it was founded on'.
