If You Believe John O'Neill, Kerry Was An Absolute Idiot In 'Nam

Mr Dishonorable Dirtbag contends that Kerry wanted to earn 3 Purple Hearts to get out of 'Nam. If true, Kerry thought up the most idiotic plan for achieving his goal ever devised by a Yale grad: he continually put himself in situations where he came under enemy fire and risked getting killed so he could ultimately get out of 'Nam quickly and alive.

I can just hear Kerry's wheels spinning as he thought up his plan: "hmm, I might get killed out there, but if I get three Purple Hearts, it will be worth it. I'll make sure I point my leg and arm in the direction of enemy fire so any shrapnel hits there, rather than in my head or my nuts. After all, if Kennedy could be killed by a magic bullet that changed direction mid-air, I can certainly trust the laws of physics that any shrapnel headed in my direction will embed itself in my body in a relatively safe place. Yeah, that's the ticket. Maybe I should go for the Silver Star while I'm at it. I guess I'll drive my boat into a fire fight zone and look for guys to pick out of the water. If the VC are shooting at me, no problem. I'll just trust the "magic bullet in reverse" theory.

"If I get enough of the right medals, I'll be outta here soon. Yeah, that's the ticket! It's so much smarter and safer to do it that way than pulling strings to get into the Texas Air National Guard! Those guys are crashing and getting killed all the time!"

Kerry doesn't take the "3 Purple Hearts and out" policy and then gets killed in Nam - he gets up to heavan and St Peter says, "What the F* were you thinking --- you were supposed go back to the states after your 3rd Purple Heart and become the 44th President of the USA"

What moron came up with the theory that Kerry put himself in one of the most dangerous jobs over there, simply so he could come home?

And this after he VOLUNTEERED!

Then again, logic never was a right winger's strong suit.
