Social Security: "heading for an iceberg" -- yeah, right.
Gee, the admin. was right about Iraq, so, they must be right about SS too...

E-Mail Advises Bush on Social Security

A White House e-mail argues the case for cutting Social Security benefits promised in the future and says support must be built for investment accounts by convincing the public the system is "heading for an iceberg."

Calling President Bush's effort "one of the most important conservative undertakings of modern times," Karl Rove deputy Peter Wehner says in the e-mail that "the Social Security battle is one we can win." Doing so would advance the idea of limited government and could transform the nation's political landscape, he said.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the e-mail was sent Monday to "opinion leaders" to lay out "the challenges we face and the importance of seizing this opportunity to strengthen Social Security for our children and grandchildren and provide them with some ownership over their retirement savings."

Democrats think the White House e-mail "shows the strategy is to instill panic," said Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., the top Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee.

2. LMAO... that is great.
Why aren't the dems going on the offensive and talking about what happened to Bill Frist's little nest egg? Oh, nevermind. Most of them have a problem with standing up and working to defend us from this regime.

3. We're heading for an iceberg and Bush is re-arranging the deckchairs
And who will get to use the lifeboats? Those passengers in First Class.

The rest of us, down in steerage, can go down with the ship.

This whole social security non-issue is just another Bush
VaporScare.

5. Isn't the STOCK MARKET headed for an iceburg too???
Currently, there's a net INFLOW to the stock market, particularly because of the money being save for retirements.

But when the baby boomers start retiring (interesting how all this happening before that, eh?) and they start pulling their money out of the stock market and 401k's, what will that do to stock prices???

This 'bubble' is constantly discussed in financial news. Why hasn't anyone brought this up when addressing this issue???

7. Exactly. What the young'ins don't get... Advertising revenue...
It would seem that this SCHEME is to appeal to the younger set?

How would they feel if they were to find out that they price they were paying for stocks was WAY OVERPRICED. (which it is now, but even more so if (when) this SCHEME passes thanks to the lack of objectiveness of the main stream media...

JUST IMAGINE, CBS, NBC, ABC is probably thinking: the BILLIONS which will be spent on advertisers trying to convince unsophisticated investors to invest in this or that... it will make Viagra look like NOTHING...
