More Jobs Lost!
Here in Utah, we are really getting hammered. Just yesterday I saw in my local paper that a major employer - Twinlabs is in trouble, sounds like some companies are trying to buy them out of bankruptcy. What makes me mad is that one company something based in MI is willing to save the local jobs but the other company wants to shut down the factory and lay off all the workers. That means jobs will be cut in Utah and in this economy that is bullshit! When is the economy ever going to get better? I feel like the local level is hurting the most.

1. The economy

I hope that when George W. Hoover gets fired in Nov. '04, the economy will actually start to improve. Companies will see that an adult will actually be in the white house again, and they may get enough confidence to start hiring workers.

3. Wichita might see a boost in jobs.
Wichita is found at the low end of the US economyes of scale. That means things are cheeper here. Every thing. Food, housing, are all sigificantly cheeper than on the coasts. (We arn't the cheepest by the way. Last I looked, New Mexico held that honor. But that may have changed.)

My compnay is looking on shutting down operatins else where, and opening up NEW operations here in Wichita. I have also heard roomers of other companies doing the same. Not enugh to over take the losses, but its something.

We could be the domestic version of India.

But I am still supsicuse this will happen. We will see.

4. Face it, dudette
This is what many Democrats believe in, and Republicans love, the worldwide market (read: ripe for exploitation) and free trade (not fair trade, in free trade companies can rampage, just like in neo-liberalism companies can rampage).

We have no realistic viable alternative in this country. I mean, think realistically.

I think if people would drop thier irrational love of thier bordered country and all opposing viewpoints moved to a place whos position they most agreed with, this business empire we call America would be massively humbled.
