How desperate are the Republicans to hold ground in 06?
I heard this morning that there's "surprising support" for raising the minimum wage this year (first time since the mid-90s) . . .

1. They are cornered dogs
and they are absolutely desperate to hang on to power. Because to lose the almost-total grip on governmental power they currently enjoy would lead to their whole house of cards tumbling down.

3. The only thing bush is concerned about
Edited on Wed Jun-14-06 12:41 PM by BOSSHOG
is democrats getting subpoena power. He does not care about gay marriage or flag burning or the minimum wage or anything; except the thought that democrats would be able to investigate him and expose the populace to the truth about his administration. How sad to go through life like that.

And there is no doubt in this veterans mind that george w. bush does not give one flying dogfuck about our kids dying in the desert of Iraq. Nor do his supporters. Support the troops my ass!

5. Desperate enough to put a minimum wage raise
as a rider on an essential bill. Oh, it won't pass and their own radicals are howling about how it has nothing to do with the bill in question (which has never stopped them from putting riders that screw us onto their unrelated bills) and they'll undoubtedly blame obstructionist Democrats for its failure, but the fact that it's there at all shows the desperation of the few who are smart enough to realize just how angry this country is getting at them.

We can count on a majority of them to be blind ideologues, though, and ensure that nothing at all will stop the aristocratic juggernaut trying to push us into third world feudalism.
