US StOCKS--Market soars on Wells Fargo, lower oil price
NEW YORK, July 16 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended sharply higher on Wednesday, sending major indexes to their biggest one-day advance in more than three months, as upbeat quarterly results from Wells Fargo (WFC.N: Quote, Profile, Research) eased credit concerns and a $4 slide in oil prices calmed inflation worries.

Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 276.74 points, or 2.52 percent, to an unofficial close of 11,239.28. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX gained 30.45 points, or 2.51 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,245.36.

The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC shot up 69.14 points, or 3.12 percent, to end unofficially at 2,284.85. (Reporting by Ellis Mnyandu; Editing by Jan Paschal)

1. I don't know if I'd call 2.5% "soaring," but it's nice to have
good news once in a while.
