The Republicans want to lose this election - the economics
The Republicans got elected by appealing to politically and economically naive voters. These voters voted Republican for simplistic reasons (eg. "the Democrats will teach homosexuality in kindergaten", or "I want a God-fearing man in the White House") because they did not understand or believe what the Republicans were planning on doing next:

  • Implementing a hugely expensive war on the wrong country for reasons that have since been proven to be lies
  • Sending their sons and daughters off to this war and keeping them there with "stop loss" regulations
  • Allowing private companies to make huge profits off this war
  • massive election fraud
  • driving up the price of oil, triggering hyperinflation
  • devaluing US currency (a whole post in itself - if the Chinese called in their markers, the US would be bankrupt tomorrow)
  • Destroying the public school system (No Child Left Behind) in favour of private and/or religious schools (vouchers)
  • Deregulating industry and banking with a series of bills with titles implying the exact opposite causing...

    • jobs and entire industries (eg. manufacturing, electronics, call centre, IT) to go offshore
    • infrastructure (eg. bridges) to crumble
    • the banking industry to promote sub-prime, zero-down and other questionable mortgages to people who had no business having them
    • worthless mortgages (buried inside groupings of better-looking paper) being dumped on the stock market and snapped up by unwary banks, pension and retirement funds and individual investors
    • builders creating whole neighbourhoods of McMansions, no affordable or low-income housing
    • a housing price bubble/mania resembling the Dutch Tulip Mania

It's all going to come crashing down. They're just timing it so it happens after Bush leaves office. Then everything will get blamed on Obama. That's right, he will have been in office for 30 seconds and an economic "perfect storm" that has been brewing all the way back to Raygun will be blamed on him.

Get ready for:

  • people stuck with houses for which they cannot pay mortgage, heat, light, power, taxes
  • personal bankruptsies as their credit finally runs out triggering...
  • business bankruptsies as people can no longer afford to shop triggering...
  • bank failures - already happening but few people are noticing
  • rising interest rates
  • rising inflation
  • rising unemployment

The Republicans, with access to all the billions they were allowed to hide off-shore, will buy up all the failed businesses, deadbeat banks, empty houses, dirt-cheap stock and anything else they can lay their hands on.

Of course, Obama and the Democratic Congress will spend billions and years fixing it all up. They will revitalize socialize programs, fix up the schools, the roads and the rest of the infrastructure like the good little Keynesians they are (Republicans are Straussian supply-siders or outright Fascists). They'll put a health care plan in place, fix up the hospitals, revitalize Social Security, refit the military and do a hundred other things to get the United States back on its feet economically and socially. But they'll have to buy everything from all those businesses the Republicans just finished buying up.

That's why they're running the stupidest, most idiotic campaign you can possibly imagine.

They tried running Dubya and that didn't work - they couldn't believe the American public would let them get away with it for as long as they did. Now they're desperate - they don't want to get caught with their hand in the cookie jar. So they're going to let Obama take the blame for everything, then fix everything up.

Then in four years, or however long it takes things to get put back together, the Republicans will run on the platform "the Democrats want to teach homosexuality in kindergarten" and it all starts again.

1. I was think ing this just last night!!
When I saw McInsain's new add I was sure of it. They're not even trying.
McInsain is like a Cheney-style stand up comedian; a disgrace on the political stage.
As soon as Obama gets in, he'ss find that * just bombed Iran the night before and all these other factors will come crashing down on his head. I pray he is aware of this (how could he not be?) and will have the grace and maturity to lead us all through it.

3. You are probably right about what repubs think and even what we
will do to fix it. One thing I do not agree with you on is that Obama will get the blame. They will of course try to lay it at his doorstep but everyone knows that we are having trouble already.

Also I do not think that Herbert Hoover would have gotten half the blame he did if he had done something about the problems besides tell everyone that it all fine.

Obama has a great example of how to get out of this mess in FDR and will not just set on his ass watching things get worse. Yes, it is not going to be easy nor will it happen overnight but when he meets with us every "Monday" evening for a fireside chat we will be told the truth and given an idea about what we can expect. We will be told how we can help in the fight to rebuild our world.

4. It's been happening for a while now.
Granted I am sure it will get worse before it gets better, but I am hoping people will remember when it started, and that it was with Bush. And if Obama gets reelected, hopefully the Democrats will have been able to solve enough problems by the time his administration is over that the blame will still be focused on the thugs.

5. I don't buy this theory. They will do everything they can to remain in
power. We could yet see Bush and Cheney refuse to step down.

6. I Have no doubt...
that is the plan, the repugs know the bottom will fall out soon and they prefer to leave democrats holding the bag, where I disagree is that Obama considering his conservative outlook will not be able to reverse the downward trend and will bring the democrats down with him, the fascist will retake power on 2012 and that will be the last election for a long while.

8. right
because of that directive he signed into being in may 2007 that if we are in a state of emergency, there will be no more 3 branches of govt and the president can stay in office during an election. You can read about it on the WH website.

snip

National Security Presidential Directive 51 (NSPD-51) establishes a new post-disaster plan (with disaster defined as any incident, natural or man-made, resulting in extraordinary mass casualties, damage or disruption) which places the president in charge of all three branches of government. The directive overrides the National Emergencies Act which gives Congress power to determine the duration of a national emergency.

cut

(Wiki) It is a Presidential Directive which specifies the procedures for continuity of the federal government in the event of a "catastrophic emergency." Such an emergency is construed as "any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions." <1>

The unclassified portion of the directive was posted on the White House website on May 9, 2007, without any further announcement or press briefings

...and then he signed an order saying we were in state of emergency re korea the other day (was it korea?). I guess he has us in a permanent state of emergency on any number of orders, but I've been wondering for a year if the election was even going to happen. If he pulls off this Iran conflict, I fear he will not leave.

9. they're dead men if they lose control of mugger media
Ted Bundy media, more like it. So even if the pig loses the election, the big story will be Obama's secret character flaws, and the liberal bias of the newsmedia (if Uncle Sam got mugged and robbed by media, it was the liberal socialist media- notice bush never got the constructive critiquing that Clinton got!)
Imagine CNN critising CNN for not critising Junyer Bush because it knew bush was wrong headed and wanted him to fail, which he did, thanks to CNN...
for years, people like alan greenspan, condi rice, ari fliesher, tom ridge, don rumsmell, tom delay and many others have spent time behind closed doors hyper ventilating; sucking in oxygen frantically because it's not politics they're doing, it's raping, murder and theft. If even a few people recognised how easy it is to expose the ted bundy media(?) the real question is: can Obama be forced, by law, to honour pleas bargains made under duress (the gopigs will nuke someone if the Dems try to look into say, the murder of lawmaker Paul Wellstone etc)?
Haha...the biggest story EVER and the goofmedia has to hide it and substitute some made up nonsense ergo 'john mcain, war hero and Obama, manchurian candidate'

10. The only problem with your scenario..
... is that the economic crash is already hear a year ahead of time.

The public is stupid but not stupid enough to blame it on Obama.

13. "They tried running Dubya and that didn't work"
You mean they committed all those election crimes just so Stupid would lose? This part of the argument simply does not compute.

They moved heaven and earth to get that stupid man into office just so that they could overturn Clinton's tiny tax increase and start looting the country again with impunity.

You're also seeing conspiracy where none exists. They didn't intend to crash the economy, only to loot it. They were incapable of seeing the human and economic consequences of beggaring the people they counted upon to keep buying their goods and services and keeping their cash flow positive. They honestly thought the financial chicanery was increasing real wealth. They really thought deregulation would free business from encumbrances that lowered the bottom line.

They didn't conspire to wreck the economy because they are incapable of thinking that long term.

They fully expected to take the money and run. They didn't expect that the whole world would be teetering on the edge of depression and that there are few places to run to.

Yes, things will continue to worsen in the first years of Obama's term. Yes, the GOP and their media lapdogs will try to blame him for all the problems they created.

However, they didn't plan it that way.
