Stop Bush's Blank Check for Wall St. - Call Harry Reid
Just got this e-mail. Sorry if it has already been posted

Ask your friends to join the movement to stop Congressional leadership from giving Bush another blank check.

Call 1-888-426-0462!

In the past 24 hours, tens of thousands of CREDO activists like you have mobilized to tell Congress in a strong voice that we will not stand for a trillion-dollar giveaway to Wall Street with absolutely no benefits for Main Street. It's truly amazing how many of you have taken up this fight in such a short time, and we thank you for your activism.

Unfortunately, our work won't come to anything if the Congressional leadership sells us out, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is considering doing just that. We're hearing that deals around this bailout will be cut this week, and that Senator Reid is prepared to give away the farm.

Can you take two minutes to call Senator Reid and ask him to oppose the bailout unless it includes equity and oversight?

This process is short, easy, and makes a big difference. Here's how it works:

Call 1-888-426-0462. That's CREDO's toll-free action line — we'll connect you to Senator Reid's office.

When you get connected to Senator Reid's office, you'll have the option to leave him a voice message right away. Please leave him a message asking him to reject the Wall Street bailout unless it includes an equity stake for taxpayers, opposes golden parachutes for CEOs, imposes a moratorium on all Wall Street campaign contributions and PAC activity, strengthens regulations and oversights for the banking industry, and helps Americans in danger of losing their homes.

A bailout without these sensible provisions is just plain irresponsible. We can't afford to give the Bush Administration another blank check.

If you don't want to leave a message, you'll also have the option to wait on the line to speak to a staff member. Your hold time may be several minutes, but if you have the time to wait, we encourage you to do so. (See talking points below for live conversations — or longer messages!)

And that's the whole process! We want to flood Senator Reid's office with messages to make sure he knows that if he caves on this issue, we will hold him accountable.

Call 1-888-426-0462 right now to be connected to Senator Reid.

Then, when you're done, can you get five friends involved? (Click here to send e-mails from our convenient tell-a-friend page.) We will win or lose this fight on the strength and speed of the movement we build, so please help us spread the word.

Thank you for fighting back against the Bush Administration.

3. called my rethug senators
and dem congressman.

The rethug senator aides responded with, and this is a direct quote: "gulp." "gulp." "gulp." "We'll pass on your message. Would you like a written response?"

"No, the only response I want is to see no votes to a blank check bailout. Don't think we don't know how they vote, and don't think we aren't watching. Because we are."

"Gulp."

The good congressman's office was extremely cheery. Her response, "Sounds like you and Tom (Allen) are on the same page!" :woohoo:
