Very good overview of the entire sub-prime bubble. Turns out that Fannie Mae/Mac weren't the problem, nor was their portfolio particularly toxic. Remember, it was Republican deregulation that allowed the CDO market to explode and create the chaos that is locking up the credit markets. The only thing Republicans had going in 2004-2006 timeframe was a booming real-estate market....encouraging easy credit and using your mortgage as an ATM artificially propped up our economy. The reality of the Bush Republican fake economy is now upon us.
