Let's finally kill Reaganomics and Thatcherism in 2008

Deregulation of British rails increased the number of cancellations threefold. Privatization of prisons in DC has led to 7,000x more inmates since the policy's implementation. In Chile, the privatized social security network has now left 50% of the country's senior citizens poor. The biggest private school provider in the US has not managed to pull profit, and now dozens of its schools are going bankrupt. In California, contract firefighters cost twice as much, and had problems communicating between stations because their regular workforce didn't speak English. Poor homes were left defenseless.

It's time to bring some sense back into the word; these market cultists are killing the innocent with their religion.

Since then, of course, right up until they were re-privatised "for a song", the Beast used the corporate media, notably all the TV channels to mock British Rail, even though successive governments continued to underfund it shamefully, and it was STILL vastly superior to the current gallimaufrey of private outfits. Branson's Virgin has been one of the worst.

Apart from shocking service, overcrowding that wouldn't be legal for cattle, there have been major train crashes, caused by criminal cost-cutting and general incompetence. Moreover, for all 28 years, our right-wing governments have consistently rejected enabling victims of industrial accidents arising from criminal negligence to sue the CEO's or directors responsible. Though I believe I read recently that some progress had been made on that score.
