Futures trading was halted this morning.
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 05:17 AM by girl gone mad
Is that crazy or what?

Dow futures at -550.00, halted.

ETA news snippet:

LONDON (MarketWatch) - U.S. stock futures pointed to another monumental beating on Friday, as a plunge in Asia reignited concerns about the health of the global economy.
S&P 500 futures dropped 60 points to 855.20 and Nasdaq 100 futures fell 81.5 points to 1,172.00. Dow industrial futures fell 538 points.

The drop on the S&P 500 contract was so much that it triggered a halt in electronic trading.

2. Part of the problem (possibly) someone put the start and stop
buttons too close together.... AND this is similar to the problem with the nintendo voting machines that put the two presidential choices right next to each other. How convenient it must be to be able to say over and over again, "operator error". How much does a pixel cost and how much would it hurt to put some damn space between presidential choices like say 2 to 3 inches???? If not for all the election decisions AT LEAST the most important one.

4. They used to say if the US had a sniffle, the world caught a cold
What happens when the US is diagnosed with the cancer of Republican "supply side" economic policies?

6. This is not a god indicator.
I guess that billions for billionaires Wall Street bailout did Not work.

That $700 billion would have helped if it was funneled down to poor and middle class people who actually buy stuff and do Not horde their money.

But when you think the only economic solutions are to give tax cuts to the wealthy, deregulate and pass corporate debt onto the federal government then you really have no solutions.
