Whenever you let your day to day republicans ramble on about our economic crisis right now, you hear, "Whenever Government gets involved in things, they screw it up" or "FDR did wrong, it was WW2 that got us out of the Great Depression" or my favorite "too much regulation and oversight caused the crisis".

-The GOP; or the "do-nothing" party either fail to realize or deny the fact that Franklin Delano Roosevelt created jobs and minimized unemployment before we entered WW2. Aside from a spike in 1938, from 1933 to 1940 unemployment declined and by 1938 there were 3.3 million jobs created via New Deal. WE ENTERED WW2 IN 1941. Furthermore, taxes were raised to over 90% NOT BEFORE but AFTER war time had started.

-So what's the GOP solution? MORE TAX CUTS FOR THE UPPER PERCENTILE! YAY!!!! That's new!!!!! We've never tried that before!!!! Oh wait, yes we have; GW Bush did it for 8 years, a republican congress helped him for 6/8 of those years, Reagan did it in the 80's calling it "Reagonomics" or supply-side causing the biggest disparity between the classes and decreasing middle-class, Hoover used it in the 1920's calling it trickle-down forcing a recession into a depression, in the 1890's it was used with failed results but was called "Horse and Sparrow" economics. A rose by any other name is still a rose :-)

- I really couldn't think of a time in America when our Government screwed things up more than what our privatized big businesses (Financial, Oil, Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture, and other entities that are the sole-beneficiaries of Republican tax-cuts) do everyday. What I did remember was what Government intervention had accomplished; GI Bill, Labor Laws, The Marshal Plan, Environmental Laws, Food Safety Laws, Social Security, Peace Corps, Civil Rights, The Tennessee Valley Project, Women's Right to Vote, National Weather Service, Product Labeling/Truth in Advertising, Morrill Land Grant Act, and many many other benefits that helped American citizens merely because they were American citizens and not part of a small wealthy upper percentile.

I think they're just clinging to the Rove/Greenspan/Graham cool-aide that originated in the Reagan years. WHAT DO YOU THINK???

Christ says very little if anything on homosexuality but in reference to the "sanctity of marriage" he mentions only two things (homosexuality is NOT one of them). Those two things in reference to the "sanctity of marriage" are:
1. Adultery
2. Divorce

Yet there aren't any republicans pushing for that legislation because that's something they have in common with us liberal "heathens". Look at people like Limbaugh and Coulter; they've had more divorces than a gay dude has had boyfriends. So if you want to be technical; people like Limbaugh, Coulter, and anyone else who has committed adultery or divorce are more threatening toward the sanctity of marriage than a homosexual according to the New Testament. GOOD OLD CONSERVATIVE RIGHT WING HYPOCRISY!!! So reliable :-)

Sad, really, when they use that as a replacement for reality.

and that's their mantra to be sung endlessly as that somehow helps the economy in a severe downturn. No economists I know are saying it.

If you notice; whenever they speak, they fail to mention the "for the rich" part. Whenever neocons are mentioning tax-cuts they always say something like, "we'd like to give americans the tax-cuts they deserve" assuming every american fits in their nice upper percentile and there's no such thing as a lower and middle class (even though that's the majority). And when they say the democrats want to "raise your taxes", who is the "your" they're speaking of? Not the american majority but that same upper percentile that earn hundreds of thousands, if not, millions to billions of dollars a year. I guess what I'm try to say is that it'd be nice if they finished that line with "for the rich" so that people would be reminded of the truth, unfortunately they're better spin artists than that.

Just look at the bulk sales on the NY Times Bestseller list. Coulter, O'Reilly, Goldberg, etc.. and of course anything that comes out of the Heritage Foundation or the AEI.

A lot of great guesses but, in my humble opinion, I also think most of their reasoning originates with "The Heritage Foundation". Most of the fodder that NeoCons who aren't insane and actually quite intelligent use can most likely be traced back to "The Heritage Foundation". Most Right Wingers like O'reilly and Coulter either work FOR them or get their material FROM them.
