Without re-regulating financial institutions
Edited on Mon Mar-09-09 11:20 PM by Jack Sprat
How many do you believe will want to risk any further investment of their money, given what they have seen and learned since the economic crisis began?

It would seem to me that most people have lost faith in risking whatever money they have on Wall St stock trades or purchase of stocks and bonds. I think the Congress must act to re-regulate banking and stock trading before significant numbers of investors want to get back in the water.

About a year ago, I went to my local bank to inquire about the current CD rates. Immediately, the banker began steering me towards annuities sold by the banks' financial network. I scolded him for trying to dissuade me from my original intention, telling him that I did not ever want the word 'annuity' thrown up to me by him again. We argued over the subject at some length and I left and haven't been bank in his branch since. I wish banks were restricted to banking again and the investment firms were not part owners. Nevertheless, I understand others have a different point of view.

All the same, don't you think that consumer confidence will remain shaken until action is taken to replace former safeguards that regulated certain activities that led to the scamming of the general public? As was shown on MSNBC tonight, we have many former Wall Streeters who advocated the reckless deregulation working at the head of our government financial posts.
