FIVE banks down this weekend.
I had read about Colonial and about Dwelling House Savings and Loan Association, Pittsburgh, PA, but just now went back and found:
Community Bank of Nevada, Las Vegas, NV

Community Bank of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ

Union Bank, National Association, Gilbert, AZ

and rumor has it ( Deninnger) that
CORUS and Guaranty banks have negative equity.

3. Well this is pretty much what you'd expect
if you were going through and cleaning the banking system. These aren't really news any more since nobody is losing money from their checking or savings accounts. FDIC seem to be doing a pretty good job.

5. You apparently did not read how important Colonial bank was
to the mortgage industry.

6. Sorry, not agreeing with you isn't proof of anything
Of course I read it. Has anyone lost money they had in the bank? No. It might make mortgages more difficult to get. That's not what the FDIC insures against. You're not guaranteed a mortgage. Meantime, enjoy your patronizing attitude.
