Amex card Aug 09 letter - from fixed to variable plus 3+ increases! . See the letter:
I got this card for online purchases only (and pay it in full every single month) so I could cancel it quickly without affecting my credit union credit card if there was any account number theft problem.

I've had it for about 10 years at reasonably low fixed rates.

So check out this August 2009 letter:

3. I got the same letter
AmEx was one of the few responsible card companies that weren't gouging their customers with astronomical interest rates. I have a big balance on it -- guess it's time to get serious about paying it off.

4. I've been Amex free for almost two years, and I'm loving it.
Got the card back in 1986. Eventually, I had a gold card and a platinum Optima. They started fucking with me when I hit a bad financial spell, so in Fall of 2007, I paid them off and closed both accounts. They tried to get me back a couple of times, but they've stopped.

Just another monthly debt I don't have to worry about anymore. I basically use my debit card. The two ccs I have left I'm paying off and looking to zero out the balances.

6. I don't like to give my debit card number to anyone - it's like giving away your checking account #
if it's stolen.

Living without credit cards is an ideal but I have MS and do a lot of my shopping online so I'll always use one to protect my bank accounts.
