Chrysler to build Fiat 500 in Mexico
Chrysler Group LLC is planning to build the Fiat 500 small car at a plant in Mexico, according to a report published today.

The automaker could also build an engine for the 500 at a plant in Trenton, Mich., and is weighing building another compact car similar to the 500 in the U.S., according to The Wall Street Journal, which cited anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

Chrysler spokesman Gualberto Ranieri declined to comment today.

Italy's Fiat Group SpA took a 20 percent stake in Chrysler earlier this year as part of the Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker's exit from bankruptcy protection. The company has also received billions in loans from the federal government, which owns an 8 percent stake in the company.

Fiat, as part of its purchase, had announced plans to bring the hugely popular 500 to the U.S., along with the Alfa Romeo brand and Fiat-designed compact and midsize cars. The Italian automaker also plans to bring engines, transmissions and other technologies to Chrysler.

Excuse my confusion, but doesn't the U.S. government own this company now? Why are these jobs not being created in the U.S.?

3. Why are these jobs not being created in the U.S.? SHHHHHHHHHHHH
Didn't you know, according to many here on DU , it is still too early to ask questions like that??????

Seems many of us were asking these questions before, when these deals were cooked up and we were essentially told to STFU...and go away..

but but but we said..we are losing jobs while Obama was making the deals happen, via Ford making deals in Mexico at the Mexican Predients palace..the very day these companies were being taken over ..and ya know who Geitner is ..the son of the former pres of the Ford Foundation..and who worked for his dad..Obama's mom..

So while Crysler and GM were getting fucked and taken over..Ford was playing kumbaya in Mexico with the Mexican pres ..and announcing the opening of a huge factory in Mexico..

Good Bye American Jobs..and helllllllllllooooooooooo Mexico jobs..and now is there any wonder why the North American Union has built roadways from Mexico to Canada?????????
