Taking Down the "Too Big To Fail" Banks Ourselves

No additional legislation or oversight is needed to reduce the concentrations of power held by the "too big to fail" banks; individuals need only transfer their accounts from TBTF banks to community banks and credit unions.

1. A First Step, Certainly
But the efforts cannot flag. We need to change our leadership, and drop Rahm Emmanuel and his ilk into the wilderness, too.

2. I'm totally convinced that Rahm...
...was put in place by the cabal that is running the behind-the-scenes
crime syndicate that is destroying this country.

I'll never forget--watching Rahm toe the line for the Iraq war on the
Bill Mahr show. It was all neocon talking points. We all know what
side Rahm is on--and it ain't ours.

It's like the Sopranos, when they send out Paulie to hang around and
keep an eye on things--to make sure that everyone is "playing by the rules."

9. It does go one notch higher than Rahm.

When the President gives a speech HIMSELF, and then several months later, contradicts the meaning of that speech, the public must examine the fact that only one of two things has happened.

Either the President has developed a neurological condition affecting his memory, or he is lying.

It would be different if someone else gave the speech. But if he gives the speech himself, how can a later speech contradict his own words?

...that it is very frustrating to hear Obama say one thing--and then do another.

Believe me, I know this firsthand. I had the chance to talk on the phone with Obama
during the campaign. He called me. He called lots of people. He asked me what my
issues were and I told him my main issues were Constitutional and related to the
structure of our democracy. I told him how upset I was that Bush had removed Habeas
Corpus. Obama ensured me that he would reinstate it. Obama also outlined his desire to
reinstate Habeas in his "Blueprint For America", his booklet that outlined his positions
and also the solutions for solving current challenges.

Habeas is a pretty obscure issue. However, Obama mentioned in his "Blueprint." I commented
that this made me very happy, as did his background as a Constitutional-Law professor. I
was given assurances that Habeas would be returned.

Do I think Obama was lying to me? No.

I think that there are powerful forces that have attached themselves to every high corner
of our world. We witnessed these forces at work during the bank bailout. We witness them
every day--with the oil companies, health-care companies, pharmaceutical companies--and other
powerful corporate forces--evading regulation and using our government for profit maximizaion.

It's basically the PNAC crowd. Their "global domination" coup is moving along nicely.

These people are more important and powerful than the President. I would say that the
President works on their behalf; or else. During the Bush Administration, they gained
a strong foothold, and now they've got holdovers in many depts--NSA, CIA, Dept of Justice. There
is a lethal relationship between the corporate elite and these politicians/PNACers.

Tearing that down cannot be done by one person. Not even the President.

It has to be "We The People" leading the way. There is no other way.

However much I may agree with you that "We the People" have to lead, it would be far easier to do so if the President had one of us and not one of them as his Chief of Staff.

As matter of fact, he has no one among his adviser's who is an elder advocate, no one who is a poverty advocate, and the only thing organic about his Administration is his CIA approved wife's small plot of organic food - certainly not enough to sustain a nation, but very good PR.

I am so tired of hearing that people have to act like - or be like - Republicans in order to hold office that I do not know what to do. The final straw for me is Senator Boxer now adopting this mantra. She definitely should know better.

And the big issue for me is now Monsanto - everything I uncover about this company forces me to realize that we will not have edible food in eight to ten years unless it is stopped now. (There are currently reports of RoundUp ready crops being found all the way over in No Korea - which since it has no diplomatic association with our nation, can not ask Monsanto to come in and at Monsanto's expense, destroy them.)

No one can legislate the Frankenfood seed once it is in the wind. Pollen does not care about legislation. French researchers are uncovering the mechanism by which the Roundup Ready crops afflict our kidneys and our livers. It is a very scary future, and I for one am exhausted just trying to get through my life, without having to try and convince someone like Obama of what he should do, or not do.

4. I am Grandfathered
I hated him even before he was part of the Administration. His record speaks for itself. Too bad nobody in Obama's camp was listening. They have demonstrated amazing tone-deafness as a political organization. Fish rot from the head down, you know.

5. you also have a great screen name that few dare
mess with. Your grief can stop the world from flowering and bring the patriarchy to its knees.

But about Rahm...I agree with you. Too bad no one in Obama's camp hardly ever listens. If they did, we wouldn't have a bunch of those thieves in the top slots of the government today.

11. Will do! Wells Fargo just robs it's own customers
Edited on Wed May-05-10 03:18 PM by upi402
They take ALL the money in customers' accounts to pay off money owed to it. Offsets. I need to get out and into a healthy credit union.
In other words - boycott big banks even if we have to drive to an ATM (we walk to out local banks).

edit to add; Rahm is a fucking retard whose union mom is turning in her grave, and Summers is a crooked asshole. Flames welcomed here.
