Wal-Mart workers are dependent on federal poverty programs for their
support.

Wal-Mart is costing American taxpayers hundreds of millions of
dollars, says Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.)
"There's no question that Wal-Mart imposes a huge, often hidden, cost
on its workers, our communities and U.S. taxpayers," Miller claims.

I work for Wal~Mart and know that they pay higher than minimum wage! I am at a store in a VERY small town, and each stores pay is based on the economy of the area. I don't know where You get your information, but I suggest You do some research, because Wal~Mart has VERY good benefits, and pay is not as bad as You say!! Suggestion: pull head out of A$$ before speaking about what You know nothing about!

This person either just started or is a member of management...or possibly plain stupid. All are equally possible.

Very good benefits my backside. I got better benefits and a higher hourly wage when I worked for a privately owned convenience store than my wife did working for a Wal Mart in the same town.

example when American labor is made poor....they have to seek
Federal assistance in order to suplement their wages. This is why
there has to be a MINIMUM wage.

It fits the factors necessary to be a Bush Pal...pay low wages, don't care about the small businesses in the area, pretend that you like minorities and put them in commercials and photo ops. But, don't give a s*** about anyone of color. The only colors they really like is White(if it's a CEO) and Green if it's money.

the landscape of America's economy is pretty much there ... le weekend for most folks is obsolete ... it's 2 days off, but not necessarily Sat. and Sun. nor in a row ... it's early shift and late shift ... would you like freedom fries with that ????

I have also seen atical written saying Wally World mid leval managers are trained in how to advise employees to file for the state benifits

...A snapshot of Georgia's program for uninsured children shows that it's packed with kids of Wal-Mart employees. A state survey found 10,261 of the 166,000 children covered by Georgia's PeachCare for Kids health insurance in September 2002 had a parent working for Wal-Mart Stores. That's about 14 times the number for next highest employer: Publix, with 734.
Wal-Mart, with 42,000 workers in the state in 2002, had about one child in the health care program for every four employees. The ratio for Publix was one child in PeachCare for every 22 employees.

Wal-Mart workers can buy individual coverage for as low as $15.25 every two weeks and family coverage for $66.25, Fogleman said. But those options have a deductible of $1,000, Then Wal-Mart covers 80 percent of further costs.
