Liberty Furniture to close doors after 87 years in Jacksonville

40 employees will soon be getting pink slips. This is what happens when Washington DC is more concerned that bank CEOs get their bonuses than helping those who elected them.

1. this is sad indeed
I know what it's like to work at a business that isn't making any money. It's like working for free. I can't imagine, though, what it must be like to have had that business for so long and have it fail after decade upon decade.

The Shermans can be proud of themselves on this account: "he now feels good the store will close without owing any debts to its customers."

2. A friend of mine owns a business that's over 100 years old
He's been running it for 40 plus years and told me a couple of months ago that he didn't even have $500 in his own personal bank account and that his employees while only working part-time are making more than he is after he does payroll and overhead.

I was co-owner of a restaurant once and can relate to that.
