Garlic 'may cut cow flatulence' (BBC)
Scientists in Wales tackling the impact flatulent cows and sheep have on global warming may have an answer - putting garlic in their food.

Experts claim cows are responsible for about 3% of Britain's greenhouse gases.

But initial results from the start of the three-year study show that feed containing garlic could cut the amount of gas produced by up to 50%.

The Aberystwyth research team is testing if this taints milk or meat - and gives the animals bad breath.

The study is being led by scientists at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, alongside colleagues at Bangor and Reading universities.

yada, yada- WHAT "respected scientists" he'll never say.

He's now joined ranks with Senselessbrenner.

Raygun mad his statement about cow flatulence? something he read in Reader's digest?? How we all laughed! So it turns out he was right?:-(

Damn! But that's not what's bothering me. Garlic flavored dairy? It might be OK with cheese, but it will be Hell on my much-beloved vanilla ice cream.x(

9. We have a few garlic festivals in my area
And I've actually tasted the Garlic ice cream. It's good, though you might want to cut it with a 50/50 mixture of vanilla ice cream.

6. I can tell you from experience that if a cow eats very much garlic,
it will flavor the milk. Our dairy cows would get into a patch of wild onions every now and then and the milk would be undrinkable for a few days. I don't know if it would impart a flavor to the meat, but milk is definitely susceptible to being tainted by strong tasting foods. I don't think it hurts the quality of the milk, just the taste.

8. So give them simethicone
It's safe, it's derived from seaweed or something suitably organic, and it's cheap.

And it keeps the cows from getting cramps.

A crampy cow is NOT one of God's happy creatures.
