Multiple Wind Farms Considered For Indiana

InsideINdianaBusiness.com Report

Indiana Farm Bureau and the Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation are this week sponsoring a meeting for farmers who have been contacted about easements for wind energy development. The Muncie Star-Press is reporting that several companies are expressing interest in developing wind farms in Randolph, Jay and Wayne counties. Officials estimate that as many as 300 landowners would be affected by proposed projects.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Husted Hall at the Randolph County Fairgrounds.

Indiana Michigan Power, Florida Power and Light Co., Gamesa Corporation of Spain and Horizon Wind Energy, Houston are among the energy companies that have reportedly contacted landowners.

1. Dirt farmers need to be wind farmers, too. The money they make from
selling wind power or rights will help relieve the financial pressure on them that tends to lead to environmentally and socially bad decisions.
