1. Gas injection is not new
It is a common technique used to enhance oil recovery. Even Co2 injection itself is not new. I believe retrofitting the stacks to route the exhaust through a compressor station does not seem overwhelming difficult technically.

I don't understand the contention that the technology is not developed. However, I seriously doubt that the geology to make CO2 sequestration effective is so widespread as to be able to apply the technology broadly.

"WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 — The Bush administration is set to issue a regulation on Friday that would enshrine the coal mining practice of mountaintop removal. The technique involves blasting off the tops of mountains and dumping the rubble into valleys and streams."

3. "Clean" coal is an oxymoron, IMHO. "Cleaner" coal is
another matter. I am sure we can find somewhat less damaging ways of using it. But you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
