The bees are here
We're located North of Seattle. They are buzzing around the trees and bushes. Death will have to be postponed.

2. Heck,
We have had them over here in north central Washington for some time now! Guess it's getting to hot for them so they headed northwest! :hi:

4. Completely OT but....
why do you suppose they made the WA State avatar that hideous bright pink? It's enough to turn your stomach.

I mean, this is the EverGREEN State!

:)

On topic: I've been seeing some bees here in the South end of the Olympic Peninsula, too. Not a big agricultural area, but it seems like a good sign.

A couple of years ago, I was reduced to using a Q Tip to pollinate the zucchini I was growing in an Earth Box.

3. very few here in Oregon where I live
and it is heartbreaking. Kinda like a "silent Spring" to go walking in a park yesterday with many trees blooming and not one bee anywhere in sight.
There was one Bumblebee resting on a flower petal but that huge, blooming Hawthorne tree should have been covered with them as it has in past years at this time of year.

The Willamette valley is home to a huge number of grass seed growers who use all sorts of pesticides, herbicides to grow their crops. I'm sure that the ecological damage they do to provide us with lawn seed is huge.

We've seen many wasps though but that's not much comfort.
Good to know that they still survive in some areas though.

5. Bumble bees and honey bees
have been working the lilacs and rhodies here in Freeland. We're pretty much pesticide free around here.

6. B'ham here!
I'm glad to see the honeybees out this year. Last year I saw very few and the ones I saw seemed strangely lethargic. The only pollinators I had were some wild bumblebees. This year looks to be better.

7. We've "gone native" here
and I'm seeing more HUGH black bees this year than ever before.

Seeing a lot of little bees, wasps, and leps too. Had the first dragonflies of the season yesterday.

GROW NATIVE! :woohoo:

8. Here in the suburbs of Hansville (west side of the Sound) too -
Spied them both in the flower garden AND flitting around the strawberries. Good sign in bad times! Ms Bigmack
