Recently, President George W. Bush signed an executive order that rescinded the ban on offshore drilling. At that time, he asked Congress to take action. After the order, oil prices began to fall. If Congress had acted on this request, we can only surmise that prices would continue to drop at a rapid pace as speculators would be driven from the market.
The Democratic controlled House of Representatives has stalled movement on enacting a measure to harvest the oil in Alaska and the Rocky Mountains. This non action is a direct slap in the face of hard working Americans. Most American families are working two jobs in order to keep up with the daily rising costs of everything they eat to everything they wear.
It wasn't too long that the almost mythical silent majority in this country rose up in unison to stop Congress and the president from passing an immigration bill, a bill that if passed would have wreaked havoc on the citizens of this country.
What is needed now is for the same group to rise up again to tell Congress to open our oil fields. We are sick and tired of being dependant on other nations for our well being. You can get the ball rolling; call your U.S. senator or representative. Tell them you have had enough. And then, when election time comes, kick out the rascals who do not support your wishes.
What we need in this country today is a good dose of the spirit of the people who died for it and struggled to create it.
