Energy Information Administration chief (Guy Caruso) quitting
Guy Caruso, the head of the U.S. agency that supplies federal data on energy supplies and prices, will step down Sept. 3.

The Energy Information Administration chief said in an e-mail to his employees that he was leaving the Energy Department's statistical agency after six years as its administrator.

When he was nominated by President Bush on Feb. 5, 2002, crude oil in New York cost $20.07 a barrel and the average pump price of regular gasoline was $1.11 a gallon. Last month, oil hit a record $147.27 a barrel and regular unleaded gasoline averaged an all-time high of $4.114 a gallon at the pump.

The agency publishes weekly energy supply and price data, as well as a monthly energy outlook and an annual report on energy looking decades in advance.

1. Wow, that'll look good on a resume.
"Quadrupled price at pump of gasoline..."

2. He's probably got a job ready and waiting for him at a very grateful oil company.
