Need help on endangered species & climate change
I'm working on an article on the above topic . There's lots of information available, but it's hard to sort through. Can anyone suggest a few articles and/or a short book that give a good overview?
I can use secondary sources but they need to be authoritative. Thanks for helping!

1. That's a really, really, really broad topic
I think you can't discount the fact that a lot of endangered species live in very restricted ranges surrounded by anthropogenic landscapes, and they will have nowhere to go.

4. Yes, that's part of the
reason I'm having problems--it's just so broad, it's hard to get one's mind and words around it. And you're right about the "nowhere to go."

2. Start with Tim Flannery
He's just the guy, a biologist who speaks on climate change:

7. Actually,
upon checking, this is the first book I read for this project!

It's good! Unfortunately for my purposes, the index could be better, but Oh well, there's a lot of info. there if I can go back and find it.

8. This weekend I guess I'll be working nonstop
on it.

Can't post the whole thing afterward (it's work-for-hire so I won't hold the copyright) but I'll try to put up some excerpts.

9. OnePlanetOneLife.com
www.oneplanetonelife.com

I created this website as a tool to educate the public and assist layman in researching these environmental challenges.

This website has lots of info on biodiversity loss, current mass extinction, climate change, religious and economic impacts, etc. Its set up is user friendly and it might give you some ideas on how and where to move forward.

What I would do is go to this site and click on the "environmental news and views" link on the left. This will bring up a sub-menu on the left. Click on climate change and it will give you recent news articles and studies. Browse through those and find an article dealing with warming's impact on species and biodiversity. These news articles will lead you to other studies that may help you.

One more idea for use of this site... If you can't find what your looking for in these recent articles, click on "The Sixth Mass Extinction" at the bottom of the same sub-menu. This will bring you to possibly thousands of articles dealing with environmental degradation and species extinctions. At the top of these articles is another sub-menu which has climate change as a link. This will take you to articles dating back to about 2001. Again, search these articles for climate change's impact on biodiversity. The news articles will again lead you to studies.

There are many more links on the site you can utilize in your research if you don't find what you need in the news articles.

Be on the look out for species that live in environments where the have nowhere to go when temperature shifts occur, such as mountain tops, the poles, or populated areas like some parts of the U.S.

Good Luck!

Will
