Peak Moment: (VIDEO) Matt Simmons on something WORSE than the financial meltdown.

All it takes is for something to spook people enough to top up their gas tanks.

IF a large number of Americans top up their gas tanks today, the country will be flat out of gas. Period. He goes on to discuss how quickly the stores would run out of food, etc. etc.

Very scary stuff!

4. In some respects, it may be a silver lining that we're geting this one out of the way

early on. If we had both $250 per barrel oil- and chaotic, unregulated markets (which was a real possibility)- welll, I don't much like thinking about that.

Also, I think he doesn't get the environmental concerns. I'm not disagreeing about Peak Oil - I'm a peaker myself - but there's no way environmental changes are going to hold off for thirty or one hundred years.

PS: edit to add that I love his four Energy Oxymorons! Got to save that and put that out to everyone. And I love his Q&A - wish he would have done ALL of the questions.
